According to some digging I did through the La Salle media guide, the only time La Salle has won back-to-back games, both against ranked opponents was a string of 3 straight in the 1952 NIT/Olympic qualifying.
The caveat is that the media guide is not necessarily 100% correct. It fails to note at least 1 ranked opponent I'm aware of (when our 6-24 team in 1995-96 beat a ranked Marquette team in AC)
The last time we beat 2 ranked teams in a season was 1988-89 (South Carolina and Florida State)

On the topic of beating ranked teams, Richmond has an amazing record. Their win over VCU was the fourth in their last five games against ranked teams at the Robins Center, and eighth in the last 13 games overall against teams in the top 25.
Since the Explos beat Richmond...

So much for getting respect.

Again, per the media guide, it looks like our last win against a ranked team on their home floor was in Riichmond, VA:
Dec. 28, 1957: La Salle 59, 17 Richmond 55 (OT)

LaSalle doesn't deserve much respect until they show they can win on the road. The last few road games against good teams have been ugly...

I wasn't saying that we should be favored, but +12 is a little much, considering the fact that they've looked shaky against guard-heavy teams (SJU, Richmond) of late and we just beat Butler.

I guess I shouldn't call St. Joe's guard heavy, but they did have a couple guards capable of getting through the hand-checking press that VCU calls defense.

If you can beat their press, their defense is average, shots will be there. Their last 2 OT games has shown vcu is beatable, their offense is average, unless "havoc" gets them some easy baskets. It's going to be a tough spot coming off the Richmond collapse. Shaka wasn't that smart at the end. Hanging around would help.

We're a bad road team coming off the biggest win in the program's history in a few decades.
They're a good home team coming off an emotional loss against its cross-town rival.
That right there explains the 12-points.
I would take us, though. I don't think we're going to beat VCU but I don't think we'll lose by 12. We don't lost games by more than double digits. We always find a way to hang in. VCU also let a weak St. Joe's team hang in there (on the road, but still) and Richmond's not a good team.
We also have that extra day of rest since we played on Wednesday and VCU played an overtime game last night. That might be worth a point or two right there.
Super excited.

Yikes, that line screams VCU which doesn't bode well for us.
I think Vegas sees a letdown for us coming off a big win and then going on the road to play a pissed-off ranked team.

If we somehow, come away with a win tonight, it'll put this program on a level we've never seen before. All the CBB hot shots are talking up the A10 big time right now. Beating Butler was one thing. But going into Richmond a few days later, and beating a very very good VCU team as a 12 pt dog will put us on the map...at least for a few more days. Like Coach says...this is what Xavier does. This is what Temple does. We'll see if we're on the same playing field.
Just can't get blown out. Minimize the TO's, and force more than you commit. WE need to be the agressors. WE need to be the tougher team. WE need to be sticking around at the end. Unlike years (decades?) past, we are now finding ways to win, instead of throwing games away at the end.

Thought this was double digit under in November and looks like nothing has changed. La Salle off huge win and VCU off OT loss at Richmond didn't change things. Most of the computer sites had this 12-14 pts in favor of VCU all season. We will see. I'm going with Vegas. VCU by 12. 76-64.
Prop bet. How many minutes will Wright get tonight? Over/Under 21.5

Wright better make the over or the Explos are in big trouble. Sports Network Preview: Although the Rams are returning home, they will need to bring their best stuff against this feisty La Salle squad. Smart loves to apply full-court pressure to force the opposition into turnovers, but that will not be possible against a well-oiled Explorers' offense. La Salle is not going to come out of this one with a win if Daniels realizes his potential again, as many opponents felt his presence from 3-point range earlier in the season. Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Virginia Commonwealth 77, La Salle 70 www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cbask/scores/live/preview.aspx?id=62204

It is La Salle's destiny to win this one. DJP and Garland must play with focus and make the majority of their open shots.
Get it done. La Salle 76, VCU 65.

On the subject of last LaSalle win vs. ranked opponent on the road, I think Richmond in 1957 may be right, but it almost happened on 1/8/75 against Memphis State. Memphis was ranked #18 until 1/7/75, but fell out of the rankings on 1/8/75. It was sort of notable because this may have been the end of the best 6 game streak since the 1954 NCAA win. LaSalle beat Clemson (18-10, Skip Wise and Tree Rollins) and Texas Tech (25-6, NCAA) at the Dayton Tournament on 12/20-21/74, then Furman (Rufus Mayes, Fessus Leonard, 22-7 NCAA) and Alabama (Leon Douglas, 22-5, NCAA) at the Sugar Bowl 12/29-30/74. Then a win over Hofstra 1/4/75, then the win at Memphis State. Long time ago but a great team.
