Ramon has had games were he has struggled. I have watched almost every game he has played at La Salle home and away. On the nights he struggled it has almost always been because he tries too hard to win. I will take that every time in a player. Last night he didn't play particularly well. Shot 3 for 10 and had trouble getting good shots against Roosevelt Jones but when it mattered most he made a big play to win the game. That shot despite everyone saying was a lay-up to win the game was a tough shot. He made it over three defenders. That is what winners do. Make plays at key moments and key times. Ramon Galloway has turned the culture around at La Salle. He along with G and this immediate team are all responsible but Ramon has really led the charge. What he is going through with his Mother and to be able to concentrate and make an impact at your job/sport while going through tou times are what winners do. Take a look at the video from the press conference. Pay special attention to Tyreek Duren. He is crying with Ramon and has his arm around him while Ramon is trying to get through the interview. Pretty powerful stuff and shows just what a team is and how they care for each other like family. Shows how well-like and respected Ramon is. G has created a special culture now and it was finally rewarded with a national win. Every La Salle fan owes a lot to Ramon Galloway. A true WARRIOR! Next year we are really going to miss him on the floor and on campus. Special kid that doesn't come along every recruiting class. If G keeps recruiting kids like Ramon Galloway La Salle will stay relevant. www.philahoops.com/la-salle-54-butler-53-galloways-last-second-shot-sends-explorers-to-a-win/

Ramon could be playing in the NBA next season. But first, we have unfinished business... #19 VCU needs to go down on Saturday. They should handle Richmond tonight so we are going to need to bring some energy from the opening tip.
Mills needs to step up like he did tonight (except for the critical miss on the 1-and-1) and Garland needs to get his offense going. There is no rest for the weary.
I guess my biggest concern right now is Jerrell. He really needs to step up as Zack has picked up some of his slack.

I don't mean to pry, but does anyone know what actually is going on with Ramon's Mom? Did she pass away?

OK, per G's presser, she didn't pass, it's "family difficulty." I don't need any more info, don't want to invade anyone's privacy.

Yeah, Ramon can keep it private as he likes, but he should know that we all want the best for him off the court too. He's done a lot for La Salle and I know things have been tough for the guy.

You are right about next year, but isn't it nice that LaSalle has players that will be missed. I for one have a soft spot for Earl Pettis. I really felt like he got things going in the right direction last year. I am sure Earl having Galloway had alot to do with that.

On top of the big final shot, I thought Ramon played some really sick defense. The whole team did, but him and Sammy are seriously two of the best defenders in college basketball. I don't think that's hyperbole. DJ's also not too far behind, either.
Ramon also made some nasty half-court bounce pass to Garland at one point in the second half.
He is an incredibly talented kid. He's possibly the best pure athlete I've ever seen in a La Salle uniform (with Victor Thomas and Darnell his only comp -- Darnell could leap but never went to the hole). He also has the skills within that athleticism.
It sucks that he was handed one of the worst hands a kid can be dealt in terms of what he had growing up. But he's really made it.
I hope everything works out with his family.
Everyone who has ever talked with him swears that he is an all-time great kid, too.
It's a total joy to get to watch him play.

Has this lastest run helped our cause with him? Also 88, what is your opinion of Lewis being a guard for the future rotation. He seems to be more of a Mills than Galloway or Duren. Defensive skills are ahead of offensive skills right now barring whatever La Salle is working with him now.

We are looking for frontcourt help and not guards. I don't have a real opinion either way on Khalid Lewis. I only saw him when he played us and he looked like an All-A-10 guard. He obviously didn't play that way the rest of his freshman season. I talked to one recruiting guru who didn't like him very much. Thought he wasn't much better than guards we could get at any time. I know G loves him because he can defend the ball and defend bigger guards.

A plus defender with plus quickness and average offensive tools.. Seems like a Mills replacement Like you mention, we are looking at frontcourt help and not backcourt... Are you personally confident with a backcourt with Lewis and Stukes getting the most minutes with whoever else is there (I recognize that an open speculation for a transfer like Galloway but I haven't any rumblings of possible transfers that La Salle is interest in)?

Recruiting is fluid and changes almost daily. I am not sure G could tell you today who he hopes to get going forward. I may be wrong that he is not sure about who is next recruit will be but I know all the early eggs were on Brimah and he took UConn's offer after they were recruiting him for only a couple of weeks.

Right... Well you would think it would be hopeful that the lastest run will help him especially as he is a strong recruiter...

88.....What about Ben Bentil from St. Andrew's in Middletown Del. He is a 6' 8" Jr. Espn has us offering him already. I was going to try and catch him play tonight in Wilmington. What is coaches interest level? Is it worth my time to see this kid play?

Thanks this is why I am torn as I have heard the same thing.. A plus defender with plus quickness and average offensive tools.. Seems like a Mills replacement I read "plus defender" and "Mills replacement" and I think "awesome, we're going to need him with Galloway then Mills graduating". Granting that defense is near impossible to accurately quantify, atleast by us here, I think Mills' shut down abilities might be the most overlooked portion of this season to date. There's a reason his minutes are what they are despite a relatively pedestrian looking stat line.

There's a reason his minutes are what they are despite a relatively pedestrian looking stat line. Well what I am trying to point at is, if you want to recreate the 3-4 guard backcourt rotation that is very very important to this team's success.. You have to match up the players of the future with the current team Duren and Stukes Mills and Lewis Galloway and ______ Garland and ______ I recognize there is time but Galloway and his offensive ability is what takes this backcourt to an elite level. We still need that type of player. Stukes and Lewis together is solid but I do not feel optimistic to say that it would produce an elite backcourt that we have. Again, there is still time for recruiting and with this run of national press adding ammo for a very good recruiter, conventional wisdom would think that he can add to the backcourt providing that he decides to as he is focusing on the frontcourt right now

Ok, gotcha. My hope is that _______ is one player and there's just a new role for a true slasher swingman. I wonder what ever happened to Dominique McKoy after he left URI. Never saw a minute of his play but I was obsessed with the size and scouting report.

Lewis might replace Mills in the rotation but he is a much different player. More like Duren in the fact that he is a lead guard who could score (just not as much I suspect). Lewis will stick his nose in there and rebound much like Galloway. He is like Garland in one respect. His shooting percentage need to improve ( FG% 38%, 3FG% was 24% and FT% was 64%).
He is one of those guards like Stukes that is interchangable.
