For what it's worth, we had a discussion about this last night at the Alumni Board meeting and a representative from the school came and spoke with us about it. There will be, I believe, a communication going out to all alums explaining more of the details about this than were made public by the media who ran with some incorrect information. For my part, I did bring up some of the points raised here last night and am hoping some of those get incorporated into the messaging.

Quality shitpost ^^^
And good man, glitterguy. Beginning to feel like we're the case study / think tank where the savvy admins come to get their finger on the pulse what's being said... That, or to laugh at the most outlandish arguments and opinions.

If I had to put odds on the former versus the latter, I would pile all of the odds on the latter.

Yep, well done. The naysayer in me wishes this was sent out when the announcement or leak of the sale came out last week.

Must say I did tours for prospective students for 2 years at La Salle and not only was I never asked about it once in several hundred tours at no point did anyone at Admissions (office not post game mozz sticks place) ever recommend bringing it up. In all the open houses and similar events, the museum was not a part so I think this outrage when these things are going to be used to help the school is overdone in my opinion. Sell them to good homes and go visit them there while the school shores up it’s bottom line.

All points are very correct, and I only ended up there on occasion because of my own off-script doing.

Hot damn this thread is still going... Literally have been reading for the last 30 mins start to this point (I needed a break from basketball)
I didn’t think this was going to get such a reaction when public but I continue to find the dialogue fascinating..

FWIW - I talked to four fellow (attorney & non bball following) alumni at the La Salle Invitational this morning held in the School of Business, and they were in agreement in disapproval of the sale.

I can't wait to vote against you Bro in the next alumni board election. When does your term expire? 2020?

I can't wait to vote against you Bro in the next alumni board election. When does your term expire? 2020? I'm on my second term and bylaws say you can't run for a third consecutive term. You'll have to move to introduce Articles of Impeachment at one of our meetings. If I am asked to run again in the future, though, I'll let you know so you and your friends can vote against me.

I can't wait to vote against you Bro in the next alumni board election. I like the the implication here is that Counselor is basically saying: "I disagree with you about art and people donating, and therefore will vote against putting you in an unpaid volunteer position where you give service to the school, work with current and prospective students, and attempt to support the evolving mission of a small Catholic university as it recovers from a decade-long financial crisis in re-branding and re-focusing itself for the future."

It is not your position on art, rather your belittling of this matter (in this thread and in game threads)coupled with your consistent position that only those who contribute financially can take a position on a University action makes me inclined to find other candidates when election time comes.
Come at me Bro.

Come at me Bro. I never said "only those who contribute financially", people can contribute in multiple ways to the University - with their time, talent, and treasure. I'm belittling the "outrage" at fewer than 1% of holdings being sold...some of which were not even on display in the Museum, and the inaccurate media coverage of it and comments by an art community (likening it to a felony), with no vested interest in La Salle's advancing forward, being taken as gospel. And, quite frankly, some of the suggestions to "save the art" were patently ridiculous and deserved to be mocked in an open forum like this. "Come at me Bro"....hahaha. I guess we're back in the schoolyard. Anxiously looking forward to the "Glitter Has No Home Here" signs going up on the front lawn of you and your 4 lawyer friends if I ever run again.

As long as the art museum is not replaced with a petting zoo I think we will be fine for the long run. Maybe they could build an aquarium where E&F Dorms are with the $ from the sale of the art.

Sorry but I disagree. This interim lease positions St. Joe's to have right of first refusal to ultimately purchase the Barnes tract ( immediately contiguous to their Maguire campus ) at some point in the future. SJU has already purchased the 9.8 acre Cardinal's residence at 5700 City Ave. from the Archdiocese for $10 million in 2012 - 13. Their next targeted acquisition will undoubtedly be the adjoining 10 acre Convent of the Sisters of the Visitation (average age of nuns is approx. 75 ) property at 5820 City Ave.
