I think it is safe to say that we will be out of Butler's league when we play them. They are legit national championship contenders

Listen, Butler is not going to be used to having to climb stairs to play a basketball game. They won't know how to adjust.
Seriously though, I agree with your point, but it will be awesome to see such a good team. When we played Kansas 3 years ago, they were number 1 at the time. I knew we didn't have a chance, but it was cool to see, And we gave number 2 UConn a run for their money right around that time too. I don't buy into any "trap game" theory, but it'll be fun to see. Probably get people in the building who just want to see Butler too.

UConn was #2 when we played them, I think at Paradise Jam in '08-'09.

Looks like Clarke will not be playing Wednesday night.
RT @goodmancbs Rotnei Clarke told CBSSports that he will miss Butler's next game at La Salle and expects to play against Temple on Jan. 26.

Unfortunately kjmac, we've shown by our lackluster play that it won't matter. And Butler has shown how a good team finds ways to win even without their best player against high level competition. Brad Stephens is an unbelievable coach. Our chances against Butler are slim and none. Especially if we play the way we played against Xavier. It might get real ugly.

So many inconsistencies to our quality of play. I think we executed better last year. Our Defensive intensity was more consistent then. What happened to the pit bulls? I could feel a heck of a lot better about having this same record if we looked better. You can lose a close game and play like a good team..... that has not been us this year. Saw where the Coach chided his team about a lack of toughness against X in the paper today. Not sure what he was specifically refering to.

Last night's Butler game was the perfect example of why college basketball is so much fun to watch. Great game with an unbelievable ending that was made for March. They are going to be missing Clarke but it's going to take an unbelievable shooting night by us to keep it close as I think they'll eat us alive inside

Butler is riped to be taken down. Wouldn't surprise me. Hit 3's, you never can tell.

Maybe Butler is vulnerable to an upset, but I haven't seen much from our guys since the first half in Miami. Unless something changes between now and Wednesday, I just don't feel good that we're the team to do it.

I think we would have to see a performance similar to the Penn St victory out of our guys...or better. As Weston mentioned, Get The O injected with that old, nail the 3's viagra! Hope springs eternal! ;D

And yes, the D could use the same!

Idiots over a SJU (PA) forum are claiming that La Salle is giving away free tickets and La Salle High kids get in free? Any confirmation on this?

"they're practically giving them away" just means because of the living social half price deal (that promotion was for 4 seats only, and has expired). SJU guys are just bitter that they would have to pay $130 for (plus fees) is currently $100 cheaper at La Salle (with no fees), in this limited time promotion. They are rumor mongering if they heard tickets were free. They are actually half price.
Yes, if SJU were playing Butler at home they certainly wouldn't need to give tickets away to get the word out. Winning. It is a different approach. I won't knock them.
La Salle high kids have never been interested in going to our games in a long time. Maybe that will change with Stukes on the roster.

" SJU guys are just bitter... It’s always good politics for Hawk fans to give their base some red meat by bashing on La Salle over there. Also gives them a much needed break from calling for Phil’s head.

Shocked at 88's prediction. I hope you are correct but we have a better team with a better coach coming into Gola. I hope LaSalle can keep it close in the first half. We have seen when we play quality teams that it is over by the mid point of the second half.

Butler's two losses came when X and Illinois shot 50% and 48% from the field, respectively. Illinois shot the lights out from three. We cannot afford to come out of the gate cold, and we can't force shots. As much as I love Galloway and Garland (and I love Galloway and Garland) they've shown their shot selection can be a bit suspect at times. G has to hammer home the mantra of high-percentage shots.

We're opening as 1 point favorites. Blink blink. That's insane. There's no way we should be favored over them even if the game is at home. I'll be at the game, but I expect a loss. It would be great if they proved me wrong and finally nabbed the first true signature win of G's career here, but I just don't see it happening.

1) I don't see how giving La Salle high kids (and their parents) free tickets is a bad thing. Don't you want to expose potential future La Salle U. Explorers to one of the best on-campus experiences imaginable? It's a great recruitment tool.
2) I am almost giddy with excitement for tomorrow night. At the very least, it's going to be fun.
3) On a sadder note, there's a ceremony for Dr. Bernhard Blumenthal at 6 p.m. in Olney. Dr. B ran the foreign languages department for years. I knew him really well. He was one of the more brilliant people one could ever speak with.

Gola mania makes the Bulldogs blink... All of this begs the question: What does the Bulldog of Bergen think about this game?? He may have some inside scoop for the faithful. I will be watching on the internet tomorrow. Brad Stevens vs. G. Jimmy Chitwood vs. Tom Gola.
