What's more impressive...that fact that this thread has been revived, and is now in its 33rd month? Or that the "Ed is Transferring" thread is on the cusp of 15 pages?

I'm ok with keeping a thread around. Our friends over at St Joe's start four to a dozen new threads about the same exact thing, because certain personalities there feel the need to be thread-owners instead of collaborators. Insted of a 15 page thread, they would have had 15 different concurrent threads about it, all starting with "my take on the Croswell transfer..."

Digging out a very old thread to share a recent experience I had and ask if anyone has a recommendation... I'm in the market for a new La Salle hoodie. The stuff I've had since college has "shrunk". I popped onto GoExplorers and saw their new merch site. The first thing that struck me was that the designs appear to be very generic. By that I mean, it looks like whoever fulfills this for us has some limited set of approved logos + a list of sports, and then automatically generates every permutation of logo/sport combo fit into their templated design. I guess that could be nice but none of the designs look purposeful. I figured, whatever, the selection is weird but I can find the logo I like best and go from there. So I did. I get the order - a yellow hoodie with the " L" logo with " LA SALLE" written through it - and it was truly a piece of garbage. The hoodie itself about the quality you might find at a craft store, and the logo itself was actually cut-out and ironed on (poorly, off-center, and crooked) as if someone actually went to a craft store and made the shirt themselves for me. The site says the gear is screen-printed - this one was most definitely not. Aside from the fact that this is really bad for the brand (what little brand we have), and to have UA as the sponsor but not really have much UA apparel to choose from...where can I get some actual GOOD gear from? I checked out Rally House and they have the better intersection of quality/options but they don't have any of the newer style logos; basically just the LA SALLE + Explorer combo (they do have a cool throwback t-shirt, though) [Quick aside - the other Philly area schools have much better selections]. I checked out Fanatics - quality looks decent but designs aren't great (there were some nice hats, though). I looked at Boscovs (as someone suggested earlier in this thread) and they have very limited stock. The best gear I've gotten has been ordered through a one-off sales (ex. baseball, RIP, was selling hats one year), the school sold some jerseys one year as a fundraiser (looks like they have jersey's stocked always now?), the annual (?) fundraiser auction had some gear... There has got to be a better way. Does the school store itself have better options? I'll happily pay the campus a visit.

I'm not sure if they are open right now or what hours, but the times I've been on campus for meetings and popped into the store just to look, I spent more than I intended to.

Agree with Glitter here. The merch selection has improved on campus.
I feel like we have always been the red headed stepchild regarding school merch. I think Under armour barely gives us the light of day and we should switch to Nike. They do a much better job supporting.
Meanwhile, Homefield is unveiling a Temple collection that is sure to be awesome. We just can’t win.

So, I found this site www.vintagebrand.com and they have some awesome throw back stuff. They have some of the most obscure schools (some JUCO or CC's even). I think essentially what they do is get old logos that schools no longer care about/have the rights to, and make an assortment of products using that logo. Might be worth it if people reach out to them for them to make some stuff. I know some of our old logos are pretty cool and there'd be some decent traction. I have gotten a few things from them and have been very happy. It seems to be a print to order type deal, so they wouldnt be clogged with inventory, just need to get them the logo, I know a twitter user (I think one of the SBU guys) did a remake of one of our older logos and it looked awesome. Could be worthwhile.

Whoever is running the Gold Standard on Twitter should be running La Salle’s marketing department. Probably much more economical and more effective.

Sent to many people My guess is that someone or some company just sends him boxes of stuff from different teams and schools and he’ll just pick something out if he likes the logo or color and wears it once. I could be wrong, but seems like the most logical answer. Still cool either way.

I totally forgot about prepsportswear. Have never ordered from them but their wide array in the designs was often intriguing.

Whoever is running the Gold Standard on Twitter should be running La Salle’s marketing department. Probably much more economical and more effective. It's the best Big 5 twitter account by a mile. Probably a couple of younger people plugged into internet/twitter culture. Things like this are more meaningful for brands and engagement than people probably realize. There really aren't many other great accounts like this for other city schools. A10 Twitter is fantastic with pretty much every school having a really creative and informed account, but most Big 5 accounts are cranky old dudes starting fights with Mike Jensen and tweeting at recruits we'll never land. You're right that marketing departments should be bringing this sort of energy in, instead of relying on middle aged marketing professionals to pump out the same tired strategies that don't engage anyone.
