Most, if not all, of the merchandising suggestions generated here fall on deaf ears. Rallyhouse over the bookstore at this point.

Saw Traci Carter walking through center city a couple months ago. He was decked out head to toe in La Salle under armour gear. It's all really nice, high quality stuff. Mind boggling that if UA has a store in Philadelphia that they can't carry more stuff for the local schools, but what do I know?

Of course, I should also mention that paying full price for Under Armour is insane, which is another part of the problem, i guess. Love their stuff, but only their outlets really charge a reasonable price for anything. I'd have to know the $ was benefiting the school to pay $30 or $35 for a la salle T-shirt.

I guess La Salle fans are the only cheapos who aren't into spending $30 on a t-shirt. Got it

I posted in another thread. I went to the bookstore this weekend to get a book for my class.
It's a redesigned college bookstore. It's not changing the game or anything but it's at least a fresh look. All of the clothing and the like is right when you walk in, which is a nice touch.
The book part of it is exactly the same.
They've run into a problem of sorts, though. My class didn't have the book. I asked at the counter for some help. They kinda looked at me like they had no idea what was going on. One of the managers helped me out and told me that they had a new ordering system in place and that not all of the professors complied -- sort of a snotty answer and if felt like a "this is not my fault" thing. Maybe this is true and maybe its not. But either way it was a PITA. I saw a bunch of other classes with the same situation going on. Maybe some profs didn't follow directions or whatever. Maybe the new bookstore management didn't communicate things the right way. I don't know.
I really don't like using Amazon for textbook orders. I live in the city and don't like having packages right on my doorstep. I like to see the condition if I'm buying a used book. This way I can ensure I have the right edition, which is something that got screwed up a few classes ago for me.
Oh well. Not the end of the world. I got my book but just wish the bookstore carried it.
However, on a different note, I will say this: The MBA office has been really terrific to work with. They get back to me promptly and have held my hand through a few different snags I've had registering. The bursar and registrar's office have been really good, too. Those teams take the brunt of when students are at their most frustrated and they've handled any sort of situation I've had really well.

At first I sympathize with you, but I also will point out that it's not uncommon to get a being conference issue tee for $5 to $15 anywhere, because supply exceeds demand and they often compete for each others' business when you can get the stuff sourced more then say two places. They may even run clearances to get rid of extra Penn State or Temple stuff as soon as their respective seasons are over. It's part of the problem of being a small school fan. Our "clearance" section at the bookstore is probably dominated by wrong sizes, or too poor quality of make to sell at regular price, etc.

Great reconnaisance, Fjord!
Unfortunately, all I see is the same old ugly, random crap with inconsistent lettering/logoing/branding. The only difference is that some of it has the UA logo on it now.
So disappointing.
Anyone ever hear of the Ohio-based store Homage? They make really cool apparel with throwback "vintage" themes for about 18 schools (among other cool, hilarious things). It would be AMAZING if a Philly-area offshoot ever sprouted up!

I'm up here in New Hampshire. I checked out Boscov over the web and they have a lot of la Salle stuff available at very, very inexpensive prices. Does anyone know if the stuff is any good or not? Is it well made?

I have 2 pair of La Salle shorts bought 3 or 4 years ago from Boscov's. They have worn very well.

"Lack of authentic Explorer gear."
Does that mean there is a plethora of inauthentic Explorer gear?
I struggled with the freshman Logic back in the day.

I have 2 pair of La Salle shorts bought 3 or 4 years ago from Boscov's. They have worn very well. For reference, here's Boscov's La Salle stock right now. Pretty affordable, and not completely terrible! Great reconnaisance, Fjord! Unfortunately, all I see is the same old ugly, random crap with inconsistent lettering/logoing/branding. I get where you're coming from, but some of that stuff is borderline trendy. The blue-grey one even goes so far as to use the actually university word mark, which I was legitimately excited to see until I realized that's how bad things got. The other blue-grey one with the arched La Salle will be bought by a lot of the sorority girls, and I don't think I could have said that about anything in the B&N iteration of the bookstore. There was a bunch of stuff I would've considered buying, and a lot more stuff I didn't photograph but which you might be interested in. It's also on the website now, including the weird Delaware blue shirt. A lot of what you're talking about is also an athletic department / identity problem, and that's continuing as long as we're using *nine* different logos.

If the Alumni Association were to start an annual "basketball shirt" tradition, what images/icons would you envision on it? Believe it or not, this is being kicked around right now with some folks. I have my ideas but would love to hear from the group.

Let's bring Garland out to make an appearance when the shirts get rolled out. We can do it on homecoming... Never mind.

It would incorporate the iconic building with our flagship sport.

What about a t-shirt with an artist's rendition of a La Salle jersey on it? Since we are unable/unwilling to actually sell them for real. See similar below, sans bikini of course.

Happy to tell you all that the Alumni Board moved forward with annual t-shirt idea and received agreement from the bookstore today to get a shirt into production. They will have the design shown below and a "La Salle Alumni Association" logo on the sleeve. They should be available in the bookstore in a couple of weeks and will also be on sale at games. We are still finalizing some of the details on pricing and marketing, but the idea is that profits from this would be donated by the Alumni Association to a charitable cause important to La Salle and in support of Lasallian values. This model has worked well at Notre Dame (I still have mine from being a grad student there) and if we are successful with this, the idea is to have a new one with new designs every year. Imagine a sea of these in the stands for our games.
