I understand this topic has been beaten to death amongst those whom frequent this board, however I feel it needs to brought up again for good reason. For anyone who hasn’t read this article or followed this story, a young guy named Bryan Black suffers from epilepsy and finds that college basketball has had a calming effect on his life. He suffers from daily seizures but says that watching college basketball has done wonders to calm him down and limit the severity of seizures on a given day. He has stated a goal of collecting a jersey from all 350 college basketball teams in the country and it has really made his story become widespread. He posts on twitter a picture of himself wearing each jersey he gets sent and many coaching staffs around the country include heartfelt notes. If you take a look at his twitter feed you will see A-10 schools such as Rhode Island, Duquesne and SJU (PA) have already participated. If you were to peruse the internet and search for A-10 jerseys any school’s jersey could be bought online except for La Salle’s. I understand the conflicts and the restrictions Barnes & Noble has with regard to our bookstore, but other universities whom have a B&N bookstore seem to be able to sell authentic basketball jerseys fine. I don’t mean for this to start a shouting match, I just feel that this is a prime example of where La Salle has fallen short in the past and would love to see us come through. www.midmajormadness.com/2017/7/6/15885250/bryan-black-college-basketball-jerseys-menial-temporal-lobe-epilepsy-awarenesstwitter.com/350jerseys4hope?lang=en

I can attest to this, as a student I want to proudly show off my school's colors (as unattractive as they are), T-shirts and hoodies are nice but when it comes to a basketball fan like myself, I don't think it's too much to ask to buy a Division 1 basketball jersey, considering basketball is our main sport. I know if the school started selling jerseys, kids would pay for them, I believe the demand is there, it is just not shown

College basketball definitely has the opposite of a "calming" effect on me. But good to hear it has helped him.
I was able to find a La Salle high school jersey many moons ago so that's what I rock when necessary. I would buy a real Jersey in a heartbeat.

First off, let me agree that is something that has been long overlooked.
But, let me play devils advocate from the schools point of view. What jersey numbers would people buy? I'm guessing the retired numbers wouldn't get a lot of play since the players played so long ago. What numbers would people want? I suppose the best way would be to have blank jerseys in the bookstore, then have them custom made?

Great topic. I wore #2 for Stukes two years ago and before that, I was often wearing a 21 for Zack or 1 for DJ depending on the day of the week. I lucked into the numbers 1 and 2 in some live/online auctions for decent prices and probably better than I could have done in the bookstore if it were a thing. While the #21 was custom issue by the Zack family and friends.
I also appreciate that the alums want to keep alive the legacy of the best college players ever, but to me having all the jerseys be identical would not be the ideal result and we should have multiple colors (home/away/special) if they want to really drive up sales they could identify a particular color for a particular event and get people to buy into a handful. I know I would, as I have an overflowing drawer of La Salle gear I've been accumulating over a long time, which is despite the apparent problem of how difficult it is to come by in the right style and size.

Numbers 17-21 for our current classes and some blank to be customized.

With BB at the helm why has this damn jersey issue not been resolved.
Its ok though, those mustard yellow entourage T's make good car washing rags.
Getting out flagged, out jerseyed and out numbered in SIC. Sickening.

I'll take a #30 but I've beaten this crusade to death. No reason this shouldn't have been fixed years ago

Would love finally to get an explanation for this after half a decade of bitching. Radio silence on this topic as usual.
I do hope athletics can send this young man a game jersey for his collection and wish him good health.

It appears La Salle came through. Now if only this could be purchased in the book store...

Maybe I'm totally off base, but I feel like the awareness to join in here is something we wouldn't have had 2-3 years ago.

Forget the jersey. Where can I buy the print of the lady on the coconut tree?

Does anyone know why Under Armour does not sell La Salle gear on it's website? I thought the school signed a deal with them?

I'd like to see more and varied La Salle gear made available, also. I used to love those sweatshirts with the school seal on them until suddenly, someone working at the bookstore said the school informed them that they were not allowed to make any more shirts of any kind with the school seal on them. It's a shame, they looked classy.
They could use a greater variety of hats as well. The ones with the Explorer on them are nice, but it's mostly all they have. Hats with name spelled out - they used to have a navy blue hat with a tackle-twill "L" on it.....Sometimes, less is MORE.

My gut tells me the cost of putting La Salle gear online + manufacturing the products in the first place is too high for the expected volume of purchases. Realistically there are not many people who are going to buy this stuff, UA operates on a much higher volume than what La Salle serves so why would UA waste money/time?

I've been at weddings where the Explorer mascot made an appearance. From what I understand it takes an email and a small donation to book.

These are marketing expenses if they aren't immediately profitable. There is an inherent value in having people parade your logo and advertise your marquee sports program in towns around philly and deleware, in the rest of the tri-state and especially at home around their little brothers and sisters who might consider La Salle as their college destination. And yes, I wear my sw philly floater sweatshirt all over the west coast and get a ton of questions about La Salle because of it. Surprising how many people are aware and immediately want to talk about bball.
Just give us a few nice options or give us a reason why it's not going to be done. I can't think of other schools that do so little in this regard. I mean, one shirt design available that just says "basketball" across all stores outside of our own designs at spreadshirt.

I agree with you. The last time I brought a La Salle shirt was 1998 the year I graduated. I attended 10 basketball games last year and noticed most La Salle fans do not wear blue and gold.

When I was at Notre Dame for grad school years ago, each season for football they unveiled a new "The Shirt" which would have the ND logo, some graphic on the back of the stadium or the 4 Horsemen, or some other iconic scene, and a slogan. Students (and a lot of alums) wore them to most of the games. I'd buy one of these every year for La Salle hoops and wear it to the games. I could see graphics of buildings on campus, or Lionel's 3000, or the SW Philly floater, or some of the older stuff from The Gola era as ones to start with for the next few years and build from there. Would be cool to get students and alums to wear them to games (or include them for season ticket holders as an extra "bonus") theshirt.nd.edu/

Best merchandising plan I've heard in a while. Thanks. I passed the idea on to the Athletic Office this morning and will wait for some guidance from them about whether they, or even possibly the Alumni Association, should try to spearhead a new "tradition" that can get more swag on the streets.

That is awesome. I started scrolling around the page trying to buy one for myself, not realizing that I had missed the point and that there was only one of them for sale. And I love the idea of an annual shirt that is free for students and season ticket holders, and for sale at all games. It's an excellent idea that really should be a no-brainer for them, because it would be so easy to pull off. I would like to nominate the Tree Tops Deli Station for the front of this year's shirt. Slap a TruMark Financial Credit Union logo on the sleeve and the whole initiative can be paid for, too.

How the school never made a shirt with this silhouette is beyond me
