Not a surprise. Schools like La Salle have to get it done in the fall for many kids to commit. Especially big guys as they are a premium. Come spring the BCS vultures come calling.

After seeing his clip and researching the league in which he plays he will be a non factor at Conn. but maybe we can pick him up after he transfers (joke). Seriously guys I don't consider him a loss because he would get beat up against Davis and Zack and very well may not have played much here. As always time will tell. One other note he did look good on his clip against those 5-10 to 6-0 kids. I think in part of that clip the scoreboard showed his team winning by like 35 points. I would have really liked Artis (Pitt), a tough Baltimore kid.

I know he is thin but so were others like Marcus Camby. He could really flourish in the A-10 and bring a skill we desperately need. He is a huge loss. G would also say he is a big loss.

I think people get caught up with size (thin vs muscle vs fat, etc). I know I get caught up a lot in it too and you make a great point about Camby...you can throw Anthony Davis, Ed Davis, etc.
What do we have in Davis? Any word on how's developing (hopefully) or what he's going to bring next season??

Does it sound like I was kidding and if it did I was not. Mik I will say this about being the premier post defender in the country. #1 his offers were few, #2 he was a three star, #3 Camby was thin but nothing like Brimah. If he is premier post defender where are the big boys. He would be a four star minimum. I never said he could not possibly be a very good A10 player I just think he is overrated like so so many players. Time will tell. Camby by the way had many more offers and was a four star recruit. He will never be a Camby mark it down.

Just looked Camby up and he was Conn. Gatorade Player of the year scoring 27pts., 11 reb., 8blks,. and 8 assist per game. Conn. offer is a shot in the dark and my bet is they are shooting blanks. Brimah normally scores about 11-12 points a game in a weak league. This doesn't mean Brimah won't be good it simply means I don't see it happening. If I were G I would have taken him also but that doesn't guarantee lick.

Truth is if you knew what was happening with his recruitment you would understand he did have many other schools interested in him but he was being handled very carefully by someone who ensured not everyone who wanted him got to him. I am telling you G wanted him very badly. Not to be the next Marcus Camby but a piece of the puzzle he is putting together. That piece is something La Salle doesn't have and has not had. That equates to a big loss in my book when a coach that I think has very good talent evaluation skills really wants a player.

One more thing:
You can't kill what Brimah can/will do for UCONN when you scrape the bottom of the barrell to replace him with your next recruit. In other words you need to compare Brimah to whom we ultimately sign and then you get a true indication is losing him is a big loss. I don't like the odd we come out ahead here.

Mik nobody is saying we come out ahead all I am saying is that I don't think he is going to be a high end player but we will just have to see. His team is rated 39th in the state of Florida and not in the top 1000 nationally. For La Salle he may have been a solid pick-up but for Conn he is a reach. I wish the kid luck but I really don't expect much down the road.

I'd be slow to bet against him becoming a productive player for UConn after seeing Hilton Armstrong develop into an NBA player. G has a very good eye for talent. Unfortunately, the talent he spots early often winds up elsewhere late.

There is a new post on zagsblog.com about him signing with UConn.
I compliment coach G for even getting us in this kid's final four. However, I don't think UConn will be a good school for him. They will recruit over him, especially once they are off probation. Plus, UConn has a terrible graduation rate with athletes, and is a sports factory. Lastly, coming from a Catholic HS, LaSalle University would have been a better fit for him personally. And at LaSalle, he would have been a 4 year starter.
That being said, I wish the kid well.

If you can get a scholarship to UConn, good for you. Hope he does well.

My prediction above may turn out to be accurate. I saw some posts online this PM that UConn is heavily recruiting Pascal Chukwu from Fairfield Prep in CT - Class of 2014 7'2" / 235lbs.
Amida may not get the playing time he was promised at UConn. Maybe he needs to re-consider before he signs his letter of intent.
