The loss is ok if we think we are a mid tier A-10 team. I thought we were much better than that and hence, very disappointed. Thus, we r a team with a shot at NIT and no realistic chance to dance.I love my team but overestimated where we were at. My bad. Hopefully, make NIT and win some games and dance next year.

The offense was awful, but that's not why they lost.
You can pin this one on "G" and the coaching staff. His stubborness and insistence on playing man defense is what lost the game. And if his assistants didn't tell him to switch it up, they're just as much at fault. It was obvious after the first 5 minutes that Charlotte was able to get to the basket on penetration pretty much any time they wanted. That's all they can do. I don't think they made more than four-five shots beyond 10 feet all game (because they can't make shots further than that). La Salle should have sat back in a zone all night and made a team that shoots 28% from three beat them from the perimeter.
But no, the La Salle guards are told to play full-court, chest to chest defense on their guards who were strong and athletic enough to turn the corner on them and get into the lane for easy floaters or dump offs for layups or dunks. All you had to do was look at Charlotte's stats for the year to figure out how to play them but our coaching staff chose not to do it.
I just don't get it.

Don't know how this team will get better without Galloway next year (even if his refusal to pass or look for better shots was the biggest reason we lost tonight). Feels like the window to make the NCAA closed tonight, even if it wasn't real to begin with.

I don't think a zone would have worked much better, we tried it briefly. What we needed was to slash to the basket and stop trying to shoot our way out of the slump. It wasn't getting better that way.

It wasn't getting better that way. They tried it for maybe two possessions in the second half. It was too late at that point. Should have started in the zone and stayed in the zone. It would have forced them to shoot from outside and it would have made it easier for our big men to keep their bigs off the offensive boards.

Can this team play zone? We never forced Charlotte to make jump shots. Galloway hit that first long 3 and then kept shooting way too far back behind the line for my tastes. Zack really has to find a way to body up on defense. He gets pushed around way too easy. Really a strange game with the amount of wide open looks we had. If we shoot halfway decent we roll.

Reading through this makes me glad I was working and missed the whole game.

Joe, the link is not working here. Nor does it work after copy and paste to the Google chrome browser. Are others able to view?

This would be a nice "statement" game for La Salle if they had won it. Since there was no video and all I had to go by was watching the changing score and the game story afterward, it sounds like La Salle didn't show up once aqain when faced with a formidable challenge. These are games they have to win if they are going prove to the NCAA that they are a legitimate tournament team. Falling behind by 14, shooting 32% from the field and 13.8% from three-point land isn't going to throw any kind of a scare into any leading Atlantic 10 teams. Beating Richmond (Saturday) and Dayton (Wednesday) would go a long way to restoring people's confidence in this team.

In the future if you want to see if there's a video link for a La Salle game, go to the A-10 board and look for the Sticky thread at the top that's titled "Video Links". If there's a free link, it will be posted there.

i understand everyone wanting to pin this on the coach, but the team was dreadful shooting last night. Unfortunately, the only game we got is from 3 and we were stone cold and teams are starting to put 3-4 players on the perimeter. We don't have strong enough bigs to force the ball inside and Duren hasn't been driving the paint as well as he did earlier in the season. Once that happens, we become very easy to beat.
At this point, we are pretenders in the A10. Richmond will be a difficult game and then the rest of our January schedule will be very, very daunting. One game at a time.

@editoredge: Ouch: UAB 0-for-23(!) from 3 in loss to UCF. La Salle's Ramon Galloway missed 22(!) shots (7-of-29). Most misses in regulation since '08.
