Yup. Welcome, DaJour.
When's the last time we had three HS commits before the season started? Feels like its been a while.

With the signing of Dajour Joseph, I don't want to speculate on 4 years from now being a final 4 team, but there are some things I really like about it.
Current Freshman Class: Cian, Saul, Isaiah. This gives us a big and 2 decent sized guards. Next years freshman class: Moultrie, Brookins, Joseph. A top PG, a big and a wing.
The same way G brought in transfers this year- 1 guard, 1 wing, 1 big, I like having those options and that depth. Obviously we've been guard heavy more recently and they are easier to predict in terms of the level of bigs we usually get, but I like what G is doing here. Joseph could be a big time sleeper if he did in fact sit out last year with an injury and had a year to get better, that's never a bad thing.

The optimism around this program right now feels weird and intoxicating at the same time. I love it

Good thing no one sits behind our baskets. That could be a liability.

Looks like we'll need to factor in money for new and stronger rims in the next challenge.

The real p!sser here is that by signing Joseph, a qualified Osun Was sent by G to prep school where he met up with Bonnies commit Kyle Lofton. IF OSUN HADN'T PREPPED ....

Osun had to prep to improve his game. Your blaming the wrong coach for Osun not attending La Salle

Osun aside, my point was everyone mentioned in 15's post transferred, and none of them could really play. Miles had extended range out to 17 feet, but isn't doing much of note at CSUN.

I'd have to check again, but in the Giannini and Howard era, there have been like three direct commits who should have inspired "oh shit, this is pretty big" responses and the rest should max at "cool, this kid might be good". Viewing every recruit as a future key piece is probably part of the expectations problem here.

To further expand upon that, I can count on 1 hand the amount of incoming impact transfers from the last 15 years, despite the fact that probably 40% of our recruiting comes via the transfer market.
BJ Garland Galloway Pettis
MAYBE Jordan Price... unless you want to Pookie ahead of him. Nobody else really moved the needle, and I could make a strong argument that bringing in 2 transfers from down south in Cleon and Jordan over high school guys like Fresh Kimble, while we were the darling of the city started G's demise at La Salle.

Albiet one year, Vernon Goodridge was pretty solid for us. Wish we got another year from him.

That gets to a good point ... whether or not you liked how Jordan or Pookie eventually performed here, if you list out our best players to join the program after mid-2004, those guys are top 10-ish, right? Our transfers haven't all peaked like Galloway or BJ, but they've mostly all been players relative to direct commits.

IF OSUN HADN'T PREPPED .... ...HE WOULD HAVE PROBABLY TRANSFERRED LIKE EVERY OTHER BIG WE BROUGHT IN AS A FRESHMAN FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS

Of our top players to enter the program since 2010-11 (after our arguable last 'great' group of traditional recruits had left: Rodney, Yves, Kimmani, Ruben, etc) most have been transfers
Leading scorers (ppg) among players who entered program since 2010-11:
1. BJ (transfer) 2. Jordan (transfer) 3. Ramon (transfer) 4. Pookie (transfer) 5. Tyreek 6. Tyrone (transfer) 7. Earl (transfer) 8. Jerrell Wright 9. Jack Clark 10. Cleon (transfer) 11. Shaggy 12. Beatty (transfer) 13. Brickus 14. Kenney 15. Spencer (transfer) 16. Mills 17. Croswell 18. Stukes 19. Phiri 20. Traci Carter (transfer)

Good list. Cleon was absolutely where I was going next in terms of not being at the top of the transfers list but still high on the overall list.

Exactly. Interesting to see that counting on one hand amounted to 5 of the top 6 scorers on the same timeline. And if we are to compete next year, we have all speculated about getting one key transfer, too.
Without the transfers, the Explorers also would not be associated with BJ, an NBA signee.
And Clifton and David were impact players with a combined 3 years of eligibility left!

I think he has a year left. He played at La Salle for a year, New Mexico State for a year, and he was at Prarie View A&M last year for a season.
