I have some news to share from the golf outing yesterday.
Seriously, the amount of optimism about this season is insane. I don't ever remember it being this high but I also haven't been an alumni for that long.
G speech about transfers was pretty damn good as you would expect.
The schedule still sounds like it is being worked out. Supposedly, we are trying to play Nova at the Palestra this year. It didn't sound like that was completely set in stone yet. We are also trying to land one more really good non conference game.
Kale wasn't kidding about the in game experience. The AD, Bill Bradshaw is a real nice, no nonsense type of guy. Sounded super committed and I wouldn't be surprised if he was the long term solution.
He said they are making major changes to the in game experience with the donations they received. There are several significant donations that were made recently and with that will be renovating the gym and buying some games. This isn't a joke. I am not sure what type of renovations we are talking about but something would be nice. Let's try not to debate about this. When I pressed for questions I didn't get much out of them.
If anyone else was there and would like to add anything please feel free!

Sad I couldn't make it, so thanks for sharing. Keep the good vibes coming.

Regardless, good info.
On another note. If Raf can do our game against Nova we should all have those onions in that picture. it would be classic.
I'm so excited for this season, I really hope it can exceed my expectations.
Curious as to the "renovations" at Gola, and without making this a facility thread, as much as a shiny new facility would be ideal, the realist in me says a renovation is probably more feasible. If done properly, could be almost as impactful as a fully new facility. If the most Nova can do is renovate DuPont, then we should reserve expectations of a new facility ourselves.

Praying for beer, new sound system, knocking out the north-end court wall / slope to add a new student section, cheesesteaks, new uniform for the mascot, and most importantly Ws
What about courtside seating??? That seems like a plausible, lower-cost option to enhance the experience.

This is why I shouldn't post before 10 am. I am an idiot. It was the Sigma Phi Lambda Golf outing. I will also be at Raftery. I mixed them up.
If someone could edit the title I would appreciate it.

We are also trying to land one more really good non conference game. I heard from a very good source that the schedule was finalized around a month ago. With this latest news, I'm getting a bad feeling that Maryland has backed out of their commitment and we need to replace them on the schedule. It wouldn't surprise me. Two of their three underclassmen who declared for the NBA draft are staying in the draft.

Two of their three underclassmen who declared for the NBA draft are staying in the draft. It wouldn't be the first time. Miami backed out last minute the other season. We know about most of the games I believe. Remember playing in that doubleheader will allow them to schedule 13 games.

Remember playing in that doubleheader will allow them to schedule 13 games. No it won't. Only way La Salle can play 13 OOC games is if 4 of them are in an exempt tournament and that doubleheader is not. Maximum amount of regular season games when not playing in an exempt tournament is 29 which leaves only 11 for the OOC.

I should of asked yesterday if we were playing 13 or 11 games in the non-conference schedule.
I believe and I very well could be wrong is the three games before that are considered part of the double header. Perhaps, it is not the same as the double header USF was in last season.

It's a showcase event, not a MTE. For further proof, teams are only allowed to play in one exempt tournament per season. Georgetown is in the Maui Invitational, Temple is in the NIT Season Tip-Off, and DePaul is in the Las Vegas Classic. Those are all exempt tournaments. Here's a site with a list of all of the exempt tournaments which also splits out the neutral court showcase events which is what we're in. www.bloggingthebracket.com/2015/11/30/9810744/2016-17-college-basketball-early-season-tournaments-events-MTE-neutral-site

Hopefully, they decide to change it back to 16 games. I believe Jon Roth said they were meeting this summer to discuss it.

That seems like a plausible, lower-cost option to enhance the experience. Well, we now have at least four of these wishlist items. Baby steps.
