I went to the A10 web site and browsed thru the current stats. Mostly good ones for LaSalle, but a few that may or may not surprise readers:
1) Near the bottom on rebounding stats, especially on offense 2) The real shocker was we are 2nd from last in assists per game! 3) We are last in average attendance per game

Does anyone know how many students live on campus? Also, what is our average attendance? LaSalle has got to be able to motivate the students to walk across the street for a game. I remember getting on the bus and going to the palestra for all the games.

Would like to know % of home seating capacity that we play to. Does only paid attendance count? Thinking that school could donate 300-500 tix/game to BIG BROTHERS, CYO groups and other organizations that we can think of. Why have empty seats; introduce some folks to college BB in person and LSU. Despite the facility, we have a great atmosphere.

La Salle is last in attendance counting both away and home games. Not surprising considering three of the away games were played to sparse crowds at Hartford, Northeastern, and Rider.
But home attendance has seen an increase of almost 900 per game from last year (current avg is 3096 versus 2209 last season). The average will take a hit over the mid-term break, but with Butler coming in and the St. Joe's game counting as a home game, they should have a good shot to average close to or over 3k per game if the team continues to win.

I beleive 150 people (mostly La Salel fans probably) were at the Hartford game at Hartford.
There have been 3 reall well attended home game sthus far, Delaware, PSU and Nova. CCSU was really light and will probably look similar for Iona and Sacred Heart.
Home games against Penn, Butler and SJU will help attendance, and continuing to win will go a long was as well.
Winning out the OOC would be a great way to gain some steam.

All that matters is the home attendance which as pointed out, has increased and I think has been much better than previous years.
La Salle is also last in FG % defense despite being middle of the pack in 3pt % defense. This shows how much we lack a rim protector and the fact we continue to let guards dribble penetrate to the rim to often and when they get there we automatically allow them to have uncontested shots and do not either foul and make them earn it at the line or at least alter the shot.

There's a two-fold pproblem with the other team's guards dribble penetrating on us. First, our guards need to do a better job of not letting them penetrate so easily. Next, we're very thin big man wise (which everyone knows), so fouling becomes a problem. Our bigs aren't defenders per se, they're more foulers. Thus if they defend, they're very likely to pick up a foul. We have to do a much better job on perimeter defense. If we fix that we'll see less dribble penetration.

I am talking about key moments in games when we don't have foul problems (either individually or as a team) and just give up a lay-up. It also falls on guards who are beat to the rim. If we are down a couple or up a couple with a few minutes left take the foul and make them earn the points instead of giving them 2 points.

The dribble penetration seems to pick up when we go with our slightly bigger lineup of Zack, Peterson, Wright or Brown
The other issue is that teams are starting to catch us on switches a little more often and getting mis matches where Zack/Wrght are out on the perimeter definding a quick guard who either gets in the lane with ease or dishes to a big man being guarded by a small guard.
For me, though, the name of the game is points scored versus points allowed. We're scoring a little over 1 poitn per possession and allowing less than 1 point per possession. Because our guys have done a decent job dictating the pace of the game and reducing turnovers they are only giving up about 65 Points per game on average. To me, in colelge hoops, the first team to 70 is likely the winner and keeping teams below 70 gives you a good chance to win.
Even against Bucknell, the point total was pretty low, problem was our guys not being able to score the ball on offense. I'm hopeful that as Garland comes around he becomes another option offensively to keep the scoring droughts to a minimum.

I remember getting on the bus and going to the palestra for all the games. The students aren't the main problem anymore. They even showed up in gold, and en masse, in places like @villanova and @temple last year which was a first in how many years? I don't know why we still charge our faculty to go to games. The tenured faculty ought to be able to have a row of chairbacks available at no cost, to be given first come first served. Let's reward the faculty who actually want to stay on campus an extra hour by not charging them (or their families) for their time. But don't give away the tix in advance, or else you'll often have a scalping problem.

current attendance numbers from ESPN.com
Delaware - 3,400 CCSU - 1,512 Nova - 3,091 Penn St - 4,382 (at Palestra) - considered Neutral Site Iona - 1,402 Sacred Heart - 1,211
At Gola, we are averaging 2,123 per game. if you factor in the PSU game as a home game, we are at 2,500/game.

The Palestra is not a neutral site when a Big 5 school plays someone from outside of the area. Home attendance is at 2,500 per game. www.goexplorers.com/cumestats.aspx?path=mbball&year=2012The Iona and Sacred Heart games killed the average, which was just under 3,100 prior to those games.

gotcha. that game is listed as neutral site on their schedule on espn. would make sense for me to have that considered a home game. those 2 games killed our numbers. obviously, as soon as students get back from the break i would only imagine that the attendance will rise. Take into account that this team is playing entertaining ball, we should get more and more fans coming out that may not have been out to a game in some time.

I'm sure the students won't be back from break for the PENN or Richmond games. The other 3 January home games (Butler, Dayton, UMASS) though should all probably be around 3k+. I'm expecting the Butler game will sellout.

Student support is the best it's been in years. The problem is the West side of the building. If the team continues to win, there is no excuse why that side shouldn't be filled or close to it for every game.

the alumni and general fan base needs to make it out. that is the bottom line. the team is talented and not only that but a fun team to watch. there is legit talent on the team that can possibly play at the next level.

I came out last year for the St. Joe's game from North Jersey and there was a great turnout. I'll do the same this year. It's a shame that Dayton and Butler are played during the week.

If the team continues to win, there is no excuse why that side shouldn't be filled or close to it for every game. If they had online ticket sales, rather than having to email someone, or call a phone number and have someone call you back the next day, there'd be more alumni ticket sales. More than once I've gotten home from work, and thought about ordering tickets for later in the week. I'm not going to bother calling a number to leave a message or bother constructing an email to ask for tickets. I order almost everything else online, why not Tickets for a basketball team whose goal (is/should be) to win a National Championship??
