This is just a case of awful timing. If this article comes out one week in either direction it's not even a thing since La Salle would have it in place. Please stop making the biggest possible mountain of the smallest possible molehill.

No excuses! Any administrator of the school should have been able to provide the paragraph of information to philly.com for a small blurb in this article. If any administrator was not able, that person should not be collecting a paycheck. I named a few things new this year on-campus and I haven't been on-campus since basketball season. Digging up the information is not too laborious.
Moreover, we have a COMMUNICATION center for Christ's sake. And last I remember, they teach public relations. Press a faculty member into service to do real world PR for this story especially in light of the press last week?!
Going forward we need smart, savy, and nimble university communications and should rarely, if ever, miss a lay up. I wonder who will be hired to fill this position if at all. Our peer institutions are pretty crafty in getting their position out there and I hope we can be too.

If true, this crap needs to stop right now and people need to be held accountable or else. Last November, I attended a Silent Auction at Roman Catholic HS. There were baskets that you could make a bid on to win. I noticed SJU, Drexel, Temple and Villanova baskets which had a school sweatshirt, a couple of tickets to a MBB game and some other small items. I asked someone why there was no La Salle basket. The answer was "we called twice and were told on the second call that they would not be sending anything". I was livid. Also, last year Roman honored the 125 most influential alums of the school during their 125th Anniversary of the school. There was a huge dinner in Bensalem with overflow crowd of about 500 people. I attended the event which was first class in every way. There were about 18-20 alums of Roman ( Speedy, Chuck Storm, WW II war heroes, etc..) that were honored who also attended La Salle. I was told that Roman sent a letter with highlights of the joint alums to La Salle. Hopes were to honor these man in the La Salle Magazine or do something like send a letter or ANYTHING. I was told that there was NO RESPONSE from La Salle to either correspondence. I can tell you from at least two members of the RCHS BOT who also happen to be La Salle alums that this did not go over well. In fact, they are pissed (I rarely use that word but I am that mad) because a fair number of RCHS kids go on to attend La Salle. In fact, recently 15 enrolled at La Salle. God knows we could use 15 male students in the school. I know that President Hanycz reads this board. It is my hope that she reads this heartfelt message. I hope she finds time in her busy schedule to either reply publicly or send me a private message. Also, it is RCHS's stated goal to be tuition free at some point in the future. They are in the process of raising $100 million. I would not doubt the alumni. They took on the Archdiocese and won. They are growing in all phases. La Salle could take a lesson from the trials and tribulations of Roman Catholic High. The true question is, will Roman ever get a wrestling team?...1801? Anybody?

They have had one for atleast the past 5 years or so. You want to be the coach? The AD is a good friend of mine. I think they were hoping all the wrestlers that would usually go to North would go to Roman, but they all followed the former North coaches to Judge.

Did anyone catch the ad on Channel 6 with Dr. H. talking about upcoming events at LS? I think it was in the middle of Wheel of Fortune. Keep on Exploring.

I was a coaching Woodstown's (NJ) 7th and 8th grade program up until 3 years ago. Coaching is just as fun as playing the sport. I miss coaching baseball also, (its awesome being right on the field), but wrestling is my shit. Hit me up, or stop by Ladder this weekend...if you aren't in North Wildwood. ***If I don't start coaching again, I'm going to have to take up officiating, and I would hate myself if I did that.

About the same as last year? I can't remember and am too lazy to look it up on here. At least no regression but damn, need to strive for top 15 at least. I think that's doable for a urban private catholic division one institution.

All Ivy League schools were originally founded by Christians for the sake of advancing Christianity and meeting the needs of the new world. One hundred six of the first one hundred eight colleges founded in the US were formed and built upon Christian principles. you can figure out who is now secular and who isn't.

What a depressing thread. I love La Salle, but the same old problems just pop up again and again (except this time it comes in the context of layoffs, which makes it even worse).

Has any non-secular university every secularized itself? Marist College (Marist's independence was emphasized in 2003, when Marist invited New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer to deliver the commencement address for the graduating class, incurring protests aimed at the college for Spitzer's public support of abortion rights. In response to complaints, the president of Marist College, Dr. Dennis Murray, assured the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York that "Marist College is truly independent, and does not identify itself as a Catholic college in any way." Although Marist had become independent in 1969, under Pope John Paul II's decree Ex Corde Ecclesiae, all colleges that claimed to be Catholic prior to 1991 were considered by the church to be Catholic until declared otherwise by a bishop. Subsequently, Cardinal Archbishop of New York Edward Egan stated that Marist "is no longer a Catholic institution" and therefore not under the Church's jurisdiction.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marist_College

I believe that St. Louis U declared themselves as no longer being a Catholic institution so they could get State funding for the construction of their arena. It was the centerpiece of a economic and neighborhood revitalization next to the University.

Mismanagement has always been the top priority at La Salle. In my opinion, you're rapidly becoming the Mr. Feel Good of this board.

Not sure if is directly or indirectly related to the layoffs but I see that Jim Gullick is now working for SJU in their development office.

Not sure if is directly or indirectly related to the layoffs but I see that Jim Gullick is now working for SJU in their development office. Jim left to become director of development for the Haub School of Business a week or so after the Men's BBall banquet. I believe he saw the handwriting on the wall. Hated to see him leave, he was a very loyal La Salle man and interacted very well with Alums. I thought I felt bad after the Davidson loss at the Barclays until I saw Jim. He looked like he had just lost his best friend. I wish him the very best.
