Is this really that much worse than what "G" does on the sideline at least a few times a game?
Yeah I think it's a hell of a lot worse than what G does. Martin is a known hot-head. He can be over the top with the way he reacts during games. Lord knows what he's like in a practice. G may scream, but he doesn't even come close to Martin's level.
@jonrothstein: BREAKING: South Carolina transfer Demetrius Henry told @cbssports that he has committed to La Salle. Two years of eligibility remaining.

Possible all transfer line up: Price, Roberts, Johnson, Powell and Henry.
I'd go with Demetrius and the Gladiators as a nickname but I doubt that there were many gladiators named "Pookie".
I wondered why the ball kept getting bigger Then it hit me.
There's a market out there of kids unhappy of their first choice of college for whatever reason. With that market, you get to see a basic of how the kid will play, can handle school, etc. And you're also recruiting against a lot less. The final two for Pookie were us and IUPUI. I'd imagine he had like eight offers coming out of high school and we wouldn't have gotten a sniff. It's such a smart play.
There's only one downside to it: A kid has spent a year or two in another coach's system and with other teammates. At the very least, he's not in your system. At the very most, he learned bad habits and the like. The sit-out year (as horrifically unfair as it is) does give a school a bit of time to work that out.
G's always had a bit of Moneyball in him. The whole Rodney-era was predicated around the fact that he thought there was a market inefficiency when recruiting quality wing players. It didn't work out the way he thought for a few reasons, but stumbled on the recruit specialty instead.
Yup. I loved the idea of mimicking the Flyin' Illini lineup, they just didn't fly the same and no one could properly handle the point. But the thought process made total sense and I'm nothing if not a process-over-results guy.
AND ... the best part is this is self-perpetuating so beating the market is huge. If you're known for getting major transfers and keeping them happy, you'll get more major transfers. Hooray!
What they are thinking over at Hawk Hill... If only our colors were Blue and Gold and If only we had a coach like G and If only Martelli hadn't ticked off that O'Brien kid maybe he'd be able to sign a transfer once in awhile.

They are probably wondering how he still has a job.
Not for nothing, but it makes us look rely small time to bring up St. Joe's on a thread that really has nothing to do with them.
It easy to take shots at SJU. They had a bad season last year but that's behind them. So what St Joe's doesn't land quality transfers they aren't jealous of La Salle. They beat us on landing Chris Clover and Oliva who La Salle lost out on. I am all for hating St Joe's but not on a this thread nor I'm going to take stabs at their current roster.
They also have Bembry who hands down the favorite for A10 POY. St Joe's could very well be a good team this upcoming season. One would be stupid just take jabs at them with our current roster compared to theirs.
1. To G, he recruited Henry early in HS and must have made an impression.
2. Will Bailey, assistants don't get a lot of credit. They work hard outside the spotlight and Bailey has responsibility for our efforts in the South. Has to be part of the success in landing Henry,
3. Finally, I have to think two players from Miami FL was a plus. I would have to think that Roberts and Powell are somewhat acquainted with Henry.
I believe he will be one of the best big man in the A10 in two years.Jerrel Wright had that little hook shot and it was his shot. This guy has all the shots he can nice post moves and can shoot it from the outside.who was the last big guy who could shoot from the outside .He will be the best big guy La Salle will have in a long time.Sweet things to come!

I know I go off topic but La Salle has had gladiator (enforcer) type basketball players: George Sutor, Truck Butts, Joe DiCocco, and the captain would be Larry Cannon. (Cannon would have muscled Russell Crowe.)
Don't forget Yevgen should have been an ESPN top 100 recruit, only thing is he lacked exposure considering he came from the Ukraine, he supposedly has the talent.

He absolutely does have the talent.. Very excited for him and for everyone to see what the coaching staff has seen for a better part of a year now..
