Haycook scores in first half and that is all La Salle needed to gain the victory. La Salle is unbeaten in Haycook's 4 games vs. UD. La Salle was outshot but most of UD's were from long distance and not much of a factor.

Remarkable energy was shown in that game especially considering that:
*) La Salle hadn't even scored a goal at Baujan field during the last three appearances there (2006, 2008, 2011 vs UMass)
*) Itinerary had put them on two planes and a bus via Chicago and Columbus
*) Dayton hadn't suffered a loss at home to an A10 team since 2007 (28-0-2)
*) Defense withstood 28 Flyer shots and 30-40 MPH wind gusts

UD Soccer fans were playing the "we should have won because we outplayed them" card.

UD Soccer fans were playing the "we should have won because we outplayed them" card. Dayton outplayed the ball, too. If shooting it through the uprights counted, they'd be good. They were looking downright dangerous at times. But they failed to convert any of their nine corner kicks against a straight up defense, and they rushed 28 shots instead of creating smart, open looks. I do understand the Dayton fans' frustration. They have lost to La Salle now for FOUR straight seasons now which is an entire era in college sports terms. Even the 2012 season we didn't technically play them, it was only because La Salle won the championship and Dayton was flying home early. They can make all the excuses they want to but had we lost, I hope I wouldn't have resorted to excuses. Yes, it was a soft goal, but it was set up to look easy only because we transitioned quickly from our defense to our offense.
