Here's an update as the spring seasons are quickly coming to a close:
Women's softball: I can't remember the girls team ever being good. This year they are rocking it. 17-15 (9-3) Good for 2nd place in the conference. 6 A10 games to go against Fordham (1st), St Louis (4th) and SJU(3rd).
Women's Lax: 9-5 (3-2) Currently in 4th place (top 4 make the A10 tourney). 2 games to go @ GW and @ Mason who are both near the bottom of the standings.
Men's baseball: 11-24 (6-7) Play in the liberty bell classic as mentioned elsewhere against SJU tomorrow. Have 3 more against the Hawks this week, 3 @ Fordham, 3 @ Dayton and 3 vs. St Louis to wrap up conference play. Not looking promising.

It's true softball has never been this good (correction: since I started watching in 2001). I encourage everyone to watch the walk-off win over Umass which is on the goexplorers.com page. The pitcher, Alicia Aughton, had 3 RBI's with a walk-off homerun in the 3-0 shutout win. It was the first time La Salle has ever beaten UMass since joining the conference.
PS: even though softball features a DH, it is common for softball pitchers, as superior athletes, to also carry great hitting skills, some even batting clean-up. Often a shortstop or weak outfielder will sit out of the line-up and just enter the field for defensive purposes.

In the very early years of the program, I believe the La Salle Softball team finished 5th in the country. The same group of females that won the FH title.
This years Softball team was picked for LAST in the conference. I posted a thread earlier saying that Coach Shoemaker knew he needed to change the culture at La Salle. He seems to be doing that. Loved the video where he was filmed with the microphone. Saw what kind of coach and person he is.
I understand he has a great group of recruits in 2014, 2015 AND 2016.
He definitely gets IT and also has IT.

Congrats to Softball and WLAX making A10 tournament (sorry for late kudos to WLAX). In Softball's case, it is the first time in 17 years. Tremendous accomplishment for a team that was picked by poll of A10 coaches for last place. Shame the first mention was at the bottom of an announcement for a doubleheader that was rained out.
