I watched a tiny bit of Neubauer's boys against Kansas. Kansas kept on handing the ball over against EKU's junk defenses. EKU should be up about 16 or so.

Kansas/EKU was the most deceiving 11-point victory ever. Kansas escaped.

Great effort by the Colonels but Kansas was too talented. Great job Jeff Neubauer. Helped build his resume.
Jim Nantz with some props to the Lionel and Doug Overton team that had Neubauer was a FR reserve.

Yeah… Would live to have Overton back as an Asst Coach.. At least he could teach our guards how to shoot.. Move some of that NCAA money to pay his salary

There's a lesson for G in this GW-Memphis game. While the Colonials may not have enough to come back and win this thing, they wouldn't have any chance at all if Lonergan had kept Armwood on the bench with four fouls. He's the only offense they have right now.

Yeah… Would live to have Overton back as an Asst Coach.. At least he could teach our guards how to shoot.. Move some of that NCAA money to pay his salary Why "as an Asst Coach"? Why not as Head Coach? He's qualified.... “We are very pleased to welcome Doug as the new head coach of the Armor,” said Lee. “Doug brings a wealth of experience as both an NBA player and coach, and his relationship with the Nets over the past several years will make this a very smooth transition for both him and our team.”
“I’m excited for the opportunity to take over as the head coach of the Springfield Armor,” said Overton. “I’m looking forward to developing our players, both on and off the court, and continuing to build a winning culture in Springfield.”
Overton joins the Armor after spending five years (2008-13) on the Nets’ staff as an assistant coach and player development coach. Overton also served two seasons as an assistant coach on Phil Martelli’s staff at Saint Joseph’s (2006-08) and one season as the Philadelphia 76ers’ director of player development (2005-06), where he assisted the coaching and scouting staffs and worked with the team’s community outreach programs.

That VCU loss: that's how we would have felt 52 weeks ago today had we finished coughing that game up against Kansas State.
Ole Miss game gets a lot of attention, but that K State game was the truly remarkable one.

Havoc gets them into trouble... you need to call off the dogs when you're up two possessions on what should have been the last possession! What a bad foul.

10 point lead with 3:30 to go, blown. I guess when you foul on a three point shot you deserve to lose.

Lewis is taking all the heat for the foul on the trey, but if Burgess had hit even 1 of 2 FTs right before that the game would've been over.

That's the kind of game that makes you feel really bad afterwards. Hate when there's one identifiable scapegoat.

Dayton vs Syracuse and St Louis vs Louisville. I think we are looking at a strong possibility that the 6 A-10 teams combined will win less tourney games than we did last season. Never thought that would happen.

Lewis is a REAL good player, too. We're going to hate him for years.
Not to brag, but I picked SFSA in my pool. Any team with two losses is legit and VCU was missing their best shooter.
The Jacks can flat out play. Tough as nails with a lot of mojo. That's the thing about the small conference schools that advanced this year -- they're really good. NDSU has one of the best offenses in college hoops. Mercer's so well-coached and dripping with experience. And SFSA would do damage in big conferences.
Great first round. One of the best ever. Still not done yet with Danny Manning keeping it tight against UCLA right now.

A10 speaking, real shame VCU couldn't advance but this is the best part of the tournament - logic doesn't prevail and nobody is safe.

VCU really coughed that one up but I can't help but think they would have won in regulation if the refs hadn't screwed up a critical out of bounds call late in the game. They even went back and reviewed the replay which to me clearly showed the ball went out off of a SFA player, and they still gave the ball back to SFA.
VCU seemed to have the game in hand at that point but I remember thinking it might come back to bite them, and it did.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? The Bears Win. The Mercer Bears win. Take that K. (loved the stunned look on his face during the last 5 minutes.) Now he'll sit at home 10 miles away while Mercer plays on Sunday. I didn't see the first half but on the radio they said the Mercer coach watched K working the officials during a timeout. On the next time out, the Mercer coach went right after the ref. I loved it. He had that "I'm about to take a really nasty poo" look the last couple minutes.

Not gonna lie, I thoroughly enjoyed St. Joe's collapse but I felt terrible for the VCU fans. My god, it's the next morning and I'd still be on the floor if that happened to us in the tournament.

Would love to have him as asst coach-he would provide great help and if G moved on, a smoothe transition to head coach without missing a beat. If G stays, Doug could grow into associate head coach and get his own head coaching job when something op0emjns. Or does this make too much sense?

If G stays, Doug could grow into associate head coach and get his own head coaching job when something op0emjns. Or does this make too much sense? Why would Doug leave a job as a head coach in the NBA D-League to become an assistant at La Salle? That would be a significant cut in pay and a step backwards in terms of prestige. If G were to leave, I'm sure Doug would get serious consideration if he was even interested, because unlike the last time there was an opening at La Salle, he had no head coaching experience which they wanted badly after the Hahn fiasco. I also think Pappy would be in the mix if he was interested. He is very highly thought of at La Salle.

I see the D-league as a dead end job. A coach is stuck with a bunch of players who are exhibiting individual skills in an attempt to get to NBA. hard to show what kind of coach u r. Too, it depends on what his career goal is right now. I see your point but if he wants to be a college head coach, he should invest some time in a college program and re-introduce self to recruiting process. If he wants to be head coach in NBA, he should stay where he is and hope for a direct hire or perhaps an asst job on an NBA bench. Nothing against Owens, but to me Doug is a more attractive option.

SLU and Louisville just finished the ugliest half of b-ball this whole season, redeemed only by the shot of the brunette Louisville cheerleader after the 3:10 media timeout.

Can you imagine how awful it would be if St. Louis played Wisconsin, the bane of my college basketball existence? It would have a score not seen since they played with peach baskets.
