Come on. Awful shot, than they stand around and wait until .4 to foul?
Well, that'll do it folks. 14-15, 6-9 in the A-10. Faint light of postseason was just extinguished, unless we think we're winning 4 games in a row in Brooklyn.

Absolutely wretched display. Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually box out and get a rebound? And how do you not go to the basket at the end? Just have to shake your head at this team.
Lost our home opener and lost on senior night against two VERY beatable teams. And we wonder why our attendance was bad down the stretch. Why would anyone go to watch this?

Yeah I agree. That was what I was saying. I think we have a chance to beat Bonaventure next week, probably a toss-up. But Joe's wins Sunday by 20 points, and anything beyond next Thursday is a pipe dream.

I actually meant that to sound complimentary not sarcastic. I really do wish them the best of luck and am proud of the seniors college resumes regardless of a challenging season.

On coach again. Why isn't't Wright in the game for that weak side rebound on the GM miss. Guards can"t box out guys 6 inches taller

Trust me when I tell you the kids are crushed by this. A few we're crying on the way to the back. Try must feel like this season was doomed from the start.

Don't really post much anymore but just have to say that these kids are very poorly coached. When you watch Peterson wind up to shoot and his feet never leave the floor, Garland who plays totally out of control and can't shoot to save his ass, Lewis who is just not a very good player, no wonder this team is unwatchable. There are basically no athletes on this team that is why Galloway looked like a star when in reality he was just a good player. G is when all is said and done not a very good coach he just happened to get lucky last season. Legler would be great to bring in but G would not let it happen. Sorry I like G but sometimes the truth hurts. On a positive note J. Schuler won a state title tonight and had a fabulous season and G will have his best talent ever next season but once again he is what he is. How many times have we watched the end of a game and we almost always fail to get off a shot that has much chance of going in.

Not being back in any post season after last years run is painful. We really had a chance to make a name for ourselves and we shit the bed. Glad Sam got his 1000 points and had a good game. I really hope these kids sitting out can play.

I dunno. Is there anything else to say really? They're an underwhelming team. This is sort of par for the course this year. It's not like we're that much better than Mason even. Should we be? Sure. But we're not. Time to face it. This is a very mediocre team.
I'm looking forward to the tournament, because it's fun, not necessarily because I have much faith in La Salle. Then it will be time to think about next year, with a ton of new faces to learn about and look forward to.

On coach again. Why isn't't Wright in the game for that weak side rebound on the GM miss. Guards can"t box out guys 6 inches taller Wright was in the game. Zack left his man to try to block Wright's man's shot so he didn't box his man out, leaving Petersen stuck with a bigger guy on the follow. Duren had the ball on the left wing with 15 seconds to go when the last timeout was called, allowing Mason to set its D and for Hewitt to tell them they had a foul to give. With the ball in Duren's hands, might've been interesting to have seen the Explorers just play it out.

89 it won't matter with the way G berates kids at times it is shocking any of them listen but then again maybe they don't. I have seen enough of G to know he is very limited in his coaching abilities and should tone down his disrepectful verbal attacks of players at times.

The second-to-last-place team just out-played La Salle most of the second half. They looked like two terrible teams on the court during the first half.....it was only La Salle that decided to continue to look lousy in the second half.
A loss to St. Joe's and then a loss to St. Bonaventure in the A-10 Tourney will put this season out of its misery.

Above everything I have to say that Sam Mills has really come on. He has been aggressive and not afraid to take the shot and even drive over the last 3-4 games. As I've said before, G is not a good coach. The last few games he's used the top 5 plus Peterson for almost all of the game and it was starting to work. Tonight, Wright was nowhere to found in the first half and for part of the second. I know he had two fouls but the starting unit was starting to come together, at least better than most of the season. Tonight we didn't go with the starting unit for most of the game and we were absolutely killed on the boards. So sad. I hope that if he has some good horses next year he knows what to do with them.

You want to know why we lost this game? I think it took nearly 12 minutes for our guys to get to the free throw line once. Too busy taking bad shots and giving away our possessions.

What exactly is the offense. If its dribble drive Duren and Garland should be great as they can both beat anyone off the dribble. But you have to know if you penetrate where your teammates will be, and you can't shoot a stupid shot if its not there, this offense looks like a chinese fire drill. I realize this team was flawed because it had no Pettis type player to play the 3 but Galloway was only 6'2". It's easy to blame it on coaching but I don't know what else it could be, St Joes lost Jones and Aiken and they are better.

"I may have been the most blind coach in the world to think that we would be a good shooting team." “The difference between winning and losing is incredibly tiny. It was incredibly tiny here tonight,” Giannini finished his thought on why the team struggles. “There is a mentality when it comes to winning these games. It is a personality, a relentlessness. An approach. It is subtle. It is a tiny difference, but it is all the difference.” philahoops.com/la-salle/3811/george-mason-59-la-salle-57-explorers-lose-senior-night

"I may have been the most blind coach in the world to think that we would be a good shooting team." He wasn't the only one, thankfully. We were supposed to be as good as, if not better than, Nova. Nobody called this - national media, local media, St Joe's/Temple trolls - nobody expected our season to have turned out like this. It's little consolation, but it makes me feel slightly less gullible.

I disagree very much. This was senior night in a game that won't mean anything to the NIT committee because the NIT committee won't even have a page on us. The game won't even affect our A10 standings or seed one bit. Naturally, he started the four seniors and gave them significant minutes. Not saying he played to lose, but there isn't only one line-up you can put out to win a game, and that's not why we lost. As I said, we lost because we didn't get to the line. Mason had a foul to give at the end of the game! That cost us time on the last play. We didn't even have the option to go to the line the whole second half while Mason did get there for some free points.

How did we lose to a doormat team like Mason?

Attachment Deletedsay what you want about putting it on one guy.. but hard to argue there is not a correlation between Garland's shooting % and team's W-L record. 33% FG, 23% 3PT from a guard who averages 30 minutes/game his senior year. I know there are some other issues with this team... but I am big on stats, and the stats don't lie.

We have to ask A10 if we are permitted one additional timeout because G never has any at the end of the game. COACHING is G's problem recruiting is not. Hire Legler as an assistant or someone who can first settle G down and second can actually teach these kids something. Very few of our players seem to improve with time. Zack (yes), Wright (yes) but the remaining players for the most part seemed to have stayed the same or regressed a little. Lewis was a not as good as we thought and Garland is just a poor shooter. Mills is our best shooter who almost never took more than 5-6 shots per game. Watching Peterson shoot is flat out painful with the windup and extra slow delivery. COACHING, COACHING, COACHING

G got us to the Sweet 16 last year. He got us to the NIT the year before. He's a perfectly fine coach. He's not Bobby Knight or anything but he's far better than, say, Billy Hahn. G can really draw up a lot of good late-game in-bounds plays, and has a bunch of times.
Our season tanked because of efficiency. We missed too many shots. There's no way headed into this season anyone could project we'd shoot the way we did. It's not because "they miss Ramon" or anything of the sort. A lot of players tossed up eggs and/or didn't shoot the ball for whatever reason. We have to be an efficient offensive team since we struggle rebounding, which can make up for a lack of efficiency.
We have a really short backcourt. That's our problem. And we don't have one of those 6'5"-6'8" guys who can play either outside or inside. Teams with any player like that kill us, since the closest thing we have to guarding someone like that is DJ. DJ's a good defender, but it's when he can use his length against shorter guys and get his hands on passes. He struggles against anyone who can outmuscle him.
It's ironic because at one point in time all we had was a roster of swing guys with size.

900 I am not saying G should go although his game day coaching is weak but he needs some new blood to help him and he must learn to settle down. How can anyone miss that Garland just can't shoot past 10 feet, Peterson stands flat footed with a slow delivery while shooting and your best shooter shoots way to little. These are fixable problems but other than Mills the last few games who looked better than he has all season nothing changed. Our bigs are away from the basket and out of position far to often particularly Zack and both bigs rarely shoot past 5'. We lost at least 4-5 games just playing stupid basketball. I would have loved to coach against this team because you just pack it in which other coaches did and watch them fire blanks over and over again. How many shots did our bigs take last night maybe ten total. Let's see we can't shoot well from outside so let's keep doing the same thing until we lose. STUPID COACHING
