What does everyone think of the next few games here for La Salle?
There are some games here where you would think we would be favored: Rider, PSU, NE, Bucknell, Iona, Sacred Heart, and Siena. This takes us to @miami, then Penn, then on to A-10 schedule.
I hope this Nova win is a burst of confidence for the team, perhaps a demonstration of who needs to step up to beat good teams. We haven't yet put it all together really - which is either concerning or reason to believe better times are ahead depending on your perspective.
I think it's entirely plausible for La Salle to go 9-0 over the next month or so, but I suspect there may be a lose or two in there to finish 7-2 and 10-3 headed into A-10 play.

We have to play up to level of our ability and not down to level of good, but not superior competition.

It has been way too long for La Salle to be in this position (looking ahead after a win against Nova)... For the fans, this one in particular, yesterday was like getting over a hump. However beating Nova probably means more to the alumni than these players. I say that as a good thing, these players expect to beat Nova. Going forward (with the non conference schedule) we need to win out... In addition we need to find out if we can get more out of our bench. Can we get 3 to 5 more minutes from Brown? 2 to 4 minutes from Hunt (assuming Davis is redshirting)? Any time Hunt can provide for Wright is time Wright does not have to foul and catch a beather, that would help this team.....

I actually think we would be underdogs to Bucknell and Miami but other than that we should be favored in all other games (PSU lost its best player Tim Frazier). FWIW Bucknell is rated highly (45) on Kenpom and they have been a solid squad in the last decade or so. Every game is winnable but a a handful are virtual toss ups.

We smashed Bucknell last year and I was shocked. They're no joke, especially Muscala. A win at their place might not be as sexy as a win vs Nova or at Miami, but it will be equally difficult.

Re:ncaa1992: He is right about bench and it has been my pet peeve for months. Does anyone know or believe if Hunt Can play? I simply cannot believe they will redshirt Davis. At the least, he is a physiacal specimen, that should be able to bang, foul and eat minutes. It is impossible to get through a season and a post season w/o backup bigs. Look at yesterday; we were fortunate that it did not bite us but cannot count on luck.Does anyone have an answer as to what the plan is. I cannot sleep!

Have you taken the time to listen to the two podcasts? Your answers are there. client.stretchinternet.com/client/lasalle.portal#The plan now is to redshirt Davis. Only way he plays this year is if they lose someone to injury. Hunt has apparently improved enough that "G" said he expects to give him minutes at some point. The difference between him and Davis at this point is minimal, so you might as well give the few minutes available to the guy who only has a year of eligibility left. "G" likes Jermaine Davis a lot, thinks he has a huge upside, but due to conditioning and speed of game issues, he's just not ready yet to be a significant contributor. So why waste a year of eligibility for playing a guy maybe 50 minutes the entire season, especially if he's a big part of your long range plans. Look at what Rohan has done so far this season. If they had played him sparingly last year, he would have wasted a season of eligibility. Now we have a productive redshirt freshman who will only get better for this season and the three after that.

Bucknell is going to be very hard to beat. They're talented, well-coached, and without a doubt remember the beating they took at Gola last season. That may have been the best game our guys played all season.

Have not seen podcasts. But frankly, i disagree. This season is monumentally important and a few min here or there could make difference in a NCAA berth or looking in from outside. Lets see if Hunt can play, but if he cannot-then I stand by my position-2 bigs r not enough.

Screamer I hear what you are saying but Hunt is basically a practice player and Davis is just not at a stage that you burn a red shirt year for minimal contribution. I trust G's judgement since he works with him everyday.
On his podcast, G said that you most likely won't see Davis unless JW and SZ have an injury.
I thought the unsung player of the game was Rohan Brown. Sam and DJ were not able to defend Pinkston in the lane when Nova isolated him in the lane. Rohan stopped that cold when he came in the game.
Rider could be another unfavorable matchup for Z and I see Rohan playing a lot like the Hartford and CCSU games.

I originally had them losing three games in their OOC schedule—Nova, Miami and Penn St. (this was before Frazier went out). Obviously, I never had them losing to CCSU, but the Nova win offsets that. I still think Miami will be difficult despite their lackluster start to the season, and while Penn St. may be less of a threat now, I agree that Bucknell will be a difficult game to win. Plus, I'm worried that they haven't gotten the "bad loss" bug completely out of their system yet. Rider will be a good test for that. I think they head into A-10 play with four losses.

He should have gotten a lot more. He was the guy who would have had the best chance at shutting down Burbage who was the difference in the game for CCSU.

Miami's slow start was mainly because their best player (Durand Scott) was suspended. He came back for their game against Detroit on Saturday and they beat a solid Detroit team by 15. I expect them to do very well the rest of the season. Beating them will be very difficult.

One hope I ahve versus Bucknell is that it will be Garland's first game and we might be able to catch them off guard with no ability to scout the style of play with him out there. At the same time, it's Garland's first game with the team and it might make it ahrder for our guys to come together. As for the rest of the OOC slate....games at Siena and Northeastern will be tough, but if this team is as good as I think it is, they will be wins. Miami will be two days removed from a tourney in Hawaii and looking ahead to their first ACC game. Could very well be a "trap" in a good way for our guys.
