I haven't given up hope that Khalil and Shep will return and that even Brickus may return. The fact that he hasn't committed to VCU may mean he's having second thoughts or they haven't offered. Not sure what to make of Rokas entering the portal. Apparently not eligible for NIL money so it must be a minutes issue. If none return, I believe there are enough good players available that we will put together a competitive team

Loyola Chicago doing it again. We had interest in Nwaorkorie. They also got Jalen DeRoach and Justin Moore. La Salle has a lot of work to do. Max Feldman @maxfeldman6 · 43m UC San Diego transfer Francis Nwaokorie has committed to Loyola Chicago. The 6-7 forward started 86 games and scored over 1,000 points in three years in the Big West — 11 PTS and 5 REB per game this season. Versatile, skilled and physical. One year to play. Show more That's a good haul. DeLoach will blow up this year for them.

Problem is we haven't proven we can land them. In 2 years it has been tough sledding. Dunphy's bench coaching is the only thing really keeping us competitive right now. We need to get better players than we have gotten previously to take advantage of Dunphy's coaching.

Re: Jig……. So he did the photo shoot post, but isn’t officially committed? I noticed the hashtag, but that’s odd. it happens more than you think. i've seen numerous pictures on twitter over the last couple of years like this. the ncaa has even gotten involved. late last year, they banned photo shoots for kids on unofficial visits. obviously jhamir took an official. fyi, vcu is now down to 6 scholarship players with another player going into the portal today. not sure if this will hurt or help their chances with getting jhamir. it just boggles my mind about kids going into the portal from what you would believe are good situations (winning programs, nice facilities, good leagues, decent nil packages, etc). kentucky's last scholarship player went into the portal today. mark pope has 0 players right now. he will end up getting plenty of guys but i can't imagine everyone walking away from kentucky. duke now has only 2 scholarship players left. it is insane what's going on.

Not time to panic yet even with the supposed Brickus departure.. and obviously that will greatly hurt.. so many moving parts right now Thank god we have a new arena, the A-10 and a ton of minutes to offer.. Promise you Lilley isn’t the only P5 player that the staff is in with that is looking for a place to play after having a negative experience whether due to new coach, injury, etc where they can play in a competitive multiibid league and have a pathway to get minutes quick..

LaSalle transfer Jhamir Brickus tells @on3sports he has set a visit to South Carolina for Wednesday.
Has already visited VCU.
Brickus led the A10 in minutes while finishing second in assists (4.8) and averaging 13.9 points on 40% 3P.

It is not. He hasn’t even visited yet.
We need to come to the realization Brickus is gone. I can at least root for him from afar but not within the A-10. Hopefully he chooses to go outside the A-10.

Mik, how many players do we have officially for next season?

Not surprised Gill is in. Hopefully we can retain him, but I think someone higher up would like to add him as a defensive guy off the bench. Sorry.. Transfer down candidate.. 5th/6yr COVID players do have some advantages in that the coach knows the commitment is for a year.. But with 4 years of data.. Best to move down.. Transfer up guys are offense oriented.. Say like Nickelberry who had multiple P5 offers… Maybe American or Howard would be good fits.. He can become an alpha in his last year.. How did you know he was going to Howard?

Mik, how many players do we have officially for next season? We have 9 players committed for next year. 6 have played very little or no college basketball. We desperately need to bring in some experienced transfers. I mean it is critical.

Believe it or not (considering the general tenor of my posts), when I am not online I am happy and have been very lucky to have developed many relationships later in life within sport generally (college basketball being one of them). A lot of that was upbringing (life as a jock, camps, academies, etc). My relationships specific to basketball generally come from outside of La Salle, but basketball coaches all know what each other is doing and talking to. Coaches legitimately hang out with one another and talk shop (and drink a ton). When you go to camps, AAU events, etc., these coaches all hang out in their sweatpants while texting their head coach, who is usually fundraising. Coaches are way more friendly with each other than the respective alumni bases are with each other; I promise you that! Long way of saying... Relationships create information.

That being said, who's coming back and who's staying in the portal? Fine thelasallelunatic... An unnamed poster was poking me to share this, and I do not like doing that. Perversely, I would rather tell people when they are wrong, but this is public information, even though Jason was being talked about between me and this well respected poster. Jason Umosella committed last week to La Salle and is coming to 20th and Olney. A late bloomer from South Jersey. Do not expect to be blown away by awards and basketball recruiting service reviews. He is a legit late bloomer. This dude can shoot. He is a plus shooter with plus range. If we actually developed a frontcourt presence that allowed for high-percentage kickouts to a perimeter shooter (which is where I think this offense needs to get structured as opposed to guard penetration knockouts most of the time), this kid could shoot 40%+ immediately and be a very efficient scorer for us. Position is going to be question for him. Get him to gym yesterday.

Thanks Explorerman. Appreciate all the info we can get. I too noticed that Khalil went to the leadership seminar with Dunphy and Andres and interpret that as a sign he may be coming back.

NCAA just passed a rule effective immediately that all players who wish to transfer must be in portal by May 1 including grad transfers. This doesn’t mean they have to commit by May 1 but it at least closes one side of the portal for a bit.
