Question from Prendy re: capacity Answer from Ash: target of 3,000. I really, really hate this. When I was a student, Gola sat 4,000. ****Ask the St. Joes fans how they felt going from 3200 to 4200. It was universal aggravation from their fanbase.

Bottom line, the renovation is being done. It's a hell of a sight better than what we had, so I'm good.

It was universal aggravation from their fanbase. Lunatic, Gola was never 4,000. Gola was always projected to be 3,328. I have the original plans that La Salle circulated in 1996 or 1997. We never increased the stands so it was never as many as we were led to believe.

Looks good to me and hopefully start moving quickly. Should be helpful to all in the long run. Go Explorers

This rendering is problematic as well. For starters, it says we're playing Villanova on the scoreboard when we're clearly playing St. Joe's (PA). Secondly, our jerseys are hideous. Plus the players look like old guys.

I've made my first (modest) contribution. Let's go!

Seating 4000 is silly when the vast majority of the games have around 1k.

Finally getting a chance to watch the stream. Cool video with Charles narrating but I'm surprised they didn't enlist Raff or Train to say a few words. Renderings look nice but the devil's in the details. Sounds like they are still figuring out where the band will go. I'm curious to see the outline of the phases and know what comes when and what the $$$ goals are for each phase.

Kudos to President Allen, Ash Puri, Fran, Brian Baptiste, Colleen Hanycz, Bill Bradshaw and all of the AD and Development staff for their work over the last decade. Everybody listed above played a part, but the current group did land the plane and must be commended.

If shovels don’t go in the ground in March 2024, time to close up shop.

Shovels will be in ground come March unless weather and Mother Nature. Financing/Capital is there. They weren’t going to make the announcement without the money in place. They just needed a plan that fit with money/pledges had.

Financing questions are now centered around Phase 2. And that plan still too. If you would’ve asked three years ago, this phase 2 plan would have included a basketball practice facility, which is what Ashley Howard really wanted.

Just need City of Philly permits Impressed with Ashwin and how he handled questions today. Honest and didn't sugar-coat. Refreshing to see someone in the AD role willing to answer the questions without dodging and build some excitement and discuss not just basketball but the other parts of his role involving student recreation. They need to do 2 things now ASAP: 1) do a push for season ticket sales this year with the promise of being able to get them next year for the new arena (I'll admit I haven't renewed and wasn't planning to but am now back considering it) 2) immediately update any admissions materials with details about this new arena. Kids are applying right now and visiting schools. Parents and students want to see investments in facilities as part of their tours. I'm in this phase right now with my youngest who is a high school senior.

Do you think the renovated basketball arena drives admissions? Maybe. If it includes a student workout facility, I’d agree.

If the kid likes basketball...then yes, but agree on the student workout facility which is in a later phase. Still...they need to show a plan or rendering of that. I think showing any type of building or renovation gets attention from someone who is planning to spend the next 4 years there or invest in sending their child there. When my oldest visited Villanova, they had a model of future campus plans in the Connelly Center showing the new dorms, theater, etc. The tour guide made a point of showing it and telling the kids and parents that it would all be ready by their junior year (and it was).

Already received an email and a phone call (couldn't answer it due to work meetings) to renew my tickets. Execution is key and they are hitting it. We've come a long way from just 7 years ago when I would call the ticket office to renew, leave a message, and no one would call me back!

That's obvious "damage control" by the university. Make sure to trot out the wife of the icon to have her endorse it and our leverage is, "we're going to dedicate a plaza with her husband's statue and name on it." They knew there was going to be blow-back from some sectors. I'm certainly not going to change anyone's mind with my dissent and I wouldn't even try to. The people that are fine with it, great. It's just my belief that it showed an absence of integrity on the part of a school that always maintained how important that trait was in their teaching. That's part of the reason I chose La Salle over other colleges I could've selected. It's disappointing.

If I hit powerball, I'm doubling Glaser's gift on the condition it gets renamed Explorer Town Arena with the Glitter Suite above the court.

It was a condition of the money that the “new” arena be named after him.

One comment, one question.
Comment - don't forget the little things in the reno. i.e. the wifi, the wiring for TV cameras/radio guys. Make sure the media that shows up has everything they need. (Just using them as an example of the little things).
Question - are they keeping the same floor or will there be a 'removable' floor?

It will always be Hayman Hall to me...even though Hayman Hall is the new name for Olney Hall.
I do wonder what naming opportunities exist. I bet they could get a coalition to donate money to a "Brother Ed Sheehy Locker Room"
