My point, as someone who will never be pregnant, is blah blah blah ...

My point is those who support abortion should agree that abortions should be very rare and not a form of birth control; and tax dollars should not be used for abortions. Don't agree.

But the author doesn't acknowledge that the Church did a poor job of screening out openly gay men from being priests in the 1960's and 1970's which led to the majority of the abuses of minors by priests. Nor does he present solutions such as adoption instead of abortion for those who cannot support the child financially or for other reasons. My point is those who support abortion should agree that abortions should be very rare and not a form of birth control; and tax dollars should not be used for abortions. I encourage all my Catholic brothers and sisters to support pro-life organizations especially those who help pregnant women who have been rejected by their husbands or boyfriends. These homes help them start new careers so they can support themselves and their child. Here is one example... njrtl.org/tag/pro-life-maternity-homes/Quit your preaching and quit trying to foist your views on everyone. Your narratives by and large are false and tiresome.

I am educating not preaching. If you don't seek the truth then just ignore my posts. You're such a delusional, smug individual. You speak the truth? Give me a break. I don't claim to have all of the answers, but what you're trying to peddle is your misguided version of the truth.

On the contrary, I've already signed up to have Steve explain this all to my wife and two daughters. Think it could be really educational for them.

Here is one example... njrtl.org/tag/pro-life-maternity-homes/I know I am late to this conversation and my comments may open up a new can of worms but I cannot let this opinion stand without some response. It is not about abortion but the off hand remark about "screening out openly gay men from being priests". This is a common misconception about child predators being gay men since some of their victims are the same sex. Studies have shown that the majority of child predators either identify as straight or have relationships with adult members of the opposite sex. While the priesthood may be the biggest closet in the world the presence of gay men in the church is not what led to the majority of the abuses of minors by priests. The problem was the church leaders hid the problem and let predator priests continue to have access to victims. It is not a case of poor screening before priesthood. The priests separated themselves from their peers by their abuse yet the church did not remove them. I have had dinner with a recognized catholic apologist (my brother). The church's stand on gays is that gays should not be excluded from the church. As I understand it, the sin is not being gay but being married or having sex without the possibility of procreation is sinful. Frankly, I believe that the church and the anti-LGBTQ+ community have a basic misunderstanding of gender, sex and identity issues.

I had thought about getting into it on this, but then decided to let it pass, but I just want to say I fully agree with you. To add my own comment: "Love the sinner, hate the sin" is better than "Hate the sinner" but still falls short of the ultimately correct position of "Just mind your own business and don't worry about who consenting adults love, marry, and have sex with."
