So sad. Will always be connected to the school even though he never played here. RIP

When guys who graduated high school at the same time as you die, it really shakes you up. Can’t believe this and can’t imagine how it is for his family. Prayers for all of them, his parents and the people he kept close. Absolutely unreal. Not sure I can shout “Kobe” anymore in my driveway when I knock down a deep jumper. R.I.P. to the most rumored explorer of all time.

Absolutely awful. I can’t believe it. I can’t remember being this shocked by the death of someone I never met. And to think of his kids.. heartbreaking.

He was a killer on the court. He was an eloquent expert off the court. I can't believe this. This is awful.

And Lebron James was wearing sneakers last night with "Black Mamba" written on them in tribute as he knew he'd be passing Kobe in scoring.

A lot going on here... always hard to process the death of a child, of someone your own age, someone from your area, and someone connected to your school
Donnie Carr vs. Kobe Bryant

So there are relationships that are formed that have a ingrained memories and lasting affects in your life. So here goes in order: So in the summer of 1995 shortly after the NBA draft, I along with so many others who NBA players would participate in Sixers runs at St. Joe's. So as guys are getting their gear tight for the runs, in comes Kobe. I say to him, Hey shouldn't you be in school? He kinda smiled with that look as if I am in school. It was finals or something. The team against the sixers is Train, Snoop, Rick Mahorn, Kobe and me. the game is a good one which is the first to 10. The score is tied at 9, we have the ball. Kobe brings the ball up defended by Vernon Maxwell on the right wing. Here goes Kobe pounding the rock and directing NBA veterans to clear out. First Train posted up and he cleared him out of the post followed by Snoop, waived off the screen from Mahorn, after seeing this, there was no need for me to take my butt anywhere near him. He start to attack Vernon with such confident killa instinct going between his legs and crossing over off the bounce, then all of sudden he raised up with a 16ft mid range dagger over Maxwell and called ballgame like he'e been here before. Impressed beyond belief🏀🏀🏀

So there are relationships that are formed that have a ingrained memories and lasting affects in your life. So here goes in order: Years ago LaSalle Hoops would have open runs with the team in the afternoon. Kobe is about 13-14yrs old and I'm in the basketball office talking with the coaches and Train comes down from the courts stating that "Yeah he is real good after playing him one on one!" Impressed as he was of Kobe, you have to remember that this is coming from a guy who getting a compliment from was tougher than breaking into Fort Knox!😂

So there are relationships that are formed that have a ingrained memories and lasting affects in your life. So here goes in order: During Kobe's senior year, I was an assistant bb coach at Glen MIlls and we played Lower Merion at their place. We had a pretty decent team of athletes and talent. I will say this that there was non better on that floor the Kobe and it wasn't close. The skills and athleticism was unmatched by our team. He did everything for LM seemingly from positions 1 through 5. He scored 35pts. 14rebs, 6ast, and throw in some steals, blocks along with a thunderous dunk over our center to put the ! on the W. After the game, I spoke with Joe along with his his wife Pam mainly about how impressed I was at the dynamic play of Kobe. I had seen some great hoopers throughout my years in HS but non better then Kobe Bean Bryant!

So there are relationships that are formed that have a ingrained memories and lasting affects in your life. So here goes in order: So BJ is in the 9th grade in jersey starting as a 9th grader Westhampton Tech in Willingboro NJ. i would go to games, conduct workouts etc with BJ at that time. He was getting noticed but i thought that if i could get him closer to me because I was living in Ardmore at the time that i could intensify the workouts to get him ready for reaching his goals. So we would drive by Lower Merion every time on the way to my apt. So I get this bright Idea looking into the 🔮. One night going home, Hey BJ, what do you think about going to Lower Merion High next year, that's where Kobe went. And you know what he's doing. They won the state championship, Great Academics and you could be Da Man like Kobe was here. what do you think, BJ, yes i want to go there. Me- Ok Let me talk to your mother (because she gonna need some convincing) and Andrea to let them know the plan. Don't worry it'll happen, son. He transferred and the rest is history in the current making. ACES NATION PROUD The Irony of this story is that Kobe and BJ started varsity in the 9th grade, both played at LM, NBA and I'd say 1 and 2 in the history at LM. Both of there Dad's played at La Salle and Professionally NBA, Europe.✊🏿🏀❤️🙏🏿

Still tryna process this ONE! Call it denial of the truth or whatever. I don’t want to believe it just like Bop, Lew, Eddie, Hank. Tough time right now. I'm 52 yrs old and in my lifetime this one hits hard on several fronts but for most my age or close to it have just experienced a legend dying in my lifetime. We have not had that in Philly since Wilt.

Maybe it's having 3 daughters myself, I don't know. I can't make sense of this. Watching the Sixers last night and the Explorers tonight, the entire thing was dampened for me.

When driving home from the games tonight, I saw Boathouse Row was purple, as were all the skyscrapers, the BF Bridge, and Camden's new waterfront building (purple with a splash of yellow), all in Lakers effect to honor Kobe.

Classy move by the team and athletic department last night having the players wearing pre-game shooting shirts with Kobe's number and a pregame moment of silence.
