Penn lost to Lafayette tonight by 11. How we couldn’t compete with Penn is beyond frustrating. They played on the road without Dingle. Take one key Penn guy away against us and play at Gola and it’s a different situation. We also are playing a 10 man lineup and Ash is experimenting. Hopefully we get to a core 7 or 8 man lineup soon. Also, there are way more competitive matchups than there used to be. Lafayette is no longer an easy OOC W. UT Arlington put a scare in Gonzaga last night, which won at home by 6. Same deal in C’ville, where UVA squeaked by Vermont by 5.

I remembering seeing the Penn's coach post game presser, praising the D particularly perimeter D against us. If I am Ed Croswell, a sophomore trying to find my way, A.J Brodeur's game has a lot to offer for study and emulation.

He should be the biggest, baddest dude on the court. That's his ticket.

Those teams and others far more often come out on top. We continue to come out on the wrong side. We are not there yet and we have a very young team so despite being frustrated I understand that we are going to have some tough nights. Just waiting for the nights to be better more often than bad. Looking forward to this Florida tournament. I am hopeful of some real growth from the Explos.

I hear ya 88. Would like to see a more focused rotation, some ball movement and offensive flow continuity. A W against Murray State would be a good start and going 2 of 3 in the Gulf would make me more optimistic that we "have something" other than a search for an identity/lineup. Would like to see the seasoned players execute on O and play steady D and have a chance to play without looking over their shoulder. Phiri, Spencer, Deas and Beatty need to step up on both ends of the floor on a consistent basis, and they should with the maturity and experience they bring to the table.

Murray State is 3-1 with their only loss against a top 20 team, so I look forward to the meltdown if we don't win.

Most teams that aren't major conference or Evansville "haven't beaten anyone" two weeks in.

Most teams that aren't major conference or Evansville "haven't beaten anyone" two weeks in. You are unbelievable. Evansville? You are going to compare Evansville's win like it happens all of the time to the normal? You live in an alternate universe. Perhaps the universe you live in La Salle has won 6 national championships and made the NCAA for 25 straight years and that is why when you step out to converse with reality you don't understand how some could question the program.

He should be the biggest, baddest dude on the court. That's his ticket. Get your point Joe. They are different types of players. You are correct. Ed is more of a power guy. I am hoping though Ed might stay on the court a little longer if he could have a little more finesse to his game.....be available for more minutes, maybe more quality minutes. The biggest and baddest dudes can spend a lot of time on the bench if they do not learn to execute some of the finer points of the game. I like Ed's potential. Perhaps his ticket is learn to bruise with greater finesse?

I expect Murray St to be a solid favorite but it will be a Good measuring stick on our progress. They lost 40 points of production but return some solid contributors and have an influx of freshman talent. We likely will need Ed and Jared playing together. Team shoots w high percentage rate so D will be key. Really good test for A10 play against the likes of SLU, URI, VCU, UR, and to a certain extent Davidson

Them and Belmont were chosen to compete for the OVC title. Jo Morant is a huge lost but KenPom still has them as a top 100 team. It's really not a great matchup just looking statistically they seem to be really good on the boards, get to to the line a lot, they're offensive efficiency is solid and they don't shoot a lot of threes. Defensively their numbers are solid but have struggled to defend the arc and haven't forced many turnovers. Basically all that tells me they are very good inside which has been a major issue for us. This is going to be game where we have to force a lot of turnovers and beat them from the outside which is the only area offensively we are above average. Another note, while it is a good test for A10 competition it's most likely going to take this team quite a bit of time to show real progress.

And it goes back to the same logic ... if you assume we'd be a top mid-mid-major (A-10 being high-mid-major), this should be a game we win ~5 out of 10 times.

Surprised how well they are playing with a nice road win (plus I got MBA from there during the Jameer Nelson days, so I have an ever so slight rooting interest). Bottom line though - they are our competition for a limited high school pool of students and we need to be better than them not just in athletics, but across the board to keep kids that want a small, Catholic, Philly school from picking City Line over 20th and Olney. That being said....I fully expect them to lose by 20+ to Florida tomorrow night.

Penn lost to Lafayette tonight by 11. How we couldn’t compete with Penn is beyond frustrating. As a Penn fan, extremely frustrating but was one of those games where our 3s didn’t fall and everything Lafayette shot from 3 or otherwise was all net. That and we REALLY missed Dingle who has probably been the second best player this season. No excuses as it is a bad loss. Worth noting though that we followed up that game by beating Providence in Providence yesterday.
