10/26 v. Princeton (behind closed doors I believe) and 11/2 v. West Chester
These aren't games that can predict the season by any means, but what are some takeaways you guys are looking for? I'm hoping for noticeable team chemistry and some gritty defense, especially against a team like princeton -- also hoping to beat west chester by at least 25 because we should haha.

We never really get any info regarding the Top Secret Princeton games. Seems like there is one every year before the season starts up. Would just like to see us control the game v WCU, and lead from start to finish. Not sure what Ash's goals for those games are. I would think defensive intensity would be #1 priority.
Month from now, we'll be 3 games in. Iona, Penn and Temple. Two wins at that point is more vital than these exhibition games. Winning homecoming game is so key to get the season off to a good start.

That's a really rough three-game start. I would not be shocked if we're 0-3. Iona's really good this year. Clear favorite in the MAAC and I would not be surprised if they actually gained some at-large traction. Iona also plays an outlier of a style -- run'n'gun and one of the fastest tempos in the country -- so you have to deal with that. They'd be in the upper half of the A-10.
Penn's also really good this year. Most of the magazines say the Ivy is Harvard's to lose but Penn has a lot coming back. And Temple is Temple.
Sort of a brutal start. Not a murderer's row but we are such a young team.

Completely agree. 2-1 would be amazing coming out of that stretch, I'll even take 1-2 going into that gulf coast showcase where we can hopefully rake in some wins.

I'm taking the optimistic view that we'll be 2-1. Why the optimism? La Salle has been mostly a slow starting team for awhile. The Steven Smith senior year led team I think might have started 7-1. La Salle also normally does not get much in the way of a contribution from its freshmen but that changed last season particularly in the front court. I think it's possible of a shift in these two trends. We're overdo for some good things to happen in the program. I think we have a good coaching staff and the 2019-2020 freshmen class is more highly rated than any we have seen in years. GO EXPLORERS!!

Size may be our advantage in that game and I honestly can't believe I'm saying that compared to last season. Also, Iona a team that heavily relies on the 3. One of the few areas we were really solid at. Penn is gonna give Harvard a run for their money. They had quite a few injuries last season and still looked real capable. Temple once again is being underrated going into the season. The only real "cupcakes" on the schedule are Morgan State, Wagner and Drexel. Every other team including the field for the Gulf Case showcase are top 100ish teams or predicted to place at the very top of their conferences.

Exactly, why I put it in quotes lol. Are these teams supposed to be "cupcakes", yes. Will we beat them? Ehhhh

We need a sarcasm font here...although that might be used more than regular text.

Under G, we always lost the first few games we thought we'd win. It was a pattern (as I recall).

Any word on the Princeton scrimmage? I saw Jon Rothstein tweet out a few scrimmage results but nothing on this one obviously.

A 20pt win...Explorers never trailed in the game...Nice starting line-up of Beatty Saul Ed Shareef Ray.. Ray had a great rebounding game 11-14 boards...Stone shot the ball very well(18pts)...The team look very active. The young players played well. Still just the Preseason but not bad...

Woah. You’re right, only preseason — that’s a nice win though with the freshman stepping up. Ivy League teams are always tough too.

Super excited for this freshman class. I think we may be sleeping a little on stone — don’t want to speak too soon, but he has the ability to provide a great spark. Pick and pop or pick and roll is something we haven’t seen in a while. This should be a fun year regardless of record.

Under G, we always lost the first few games we thought we'd win. It was a pattern (as I recall). We lost most games we thought we'd win under G. It was called G-ball* * only exception were the 2 seasons with you know who... we went to NIT and NCAA tourney those years.
