Hard to argue with any of the individual rankings for us in my mind. It's all fair.

Job will always be at the bottom until facilities change. No way around it.

As an alumnus, ( 69)- I have followed La Salle basketball for over 60 years- 1969 was the best team in their history- but sadly, today, we rank 14th( dead last) in the A-10 survey. Normally, I would be defensive over this+ telling u that the survey is ridiculous- BUT- guess what?- I can’t argue against it. I’m embarrassed over it- because it’s spot on- Maybe our President + AD should look at it, and be as embarrassed as I am! I have been to high school games, where the facilities are actually better! Not only does it hurt recruiting- but it also hurts total admission applicants ( who look to sports as a major social attraction. My rant has been heard before, but it always seems to fall on deaf ears! We are a laughing stock+ I’m pissedd off about it!!!!

Maybe in the 2019 update we'll do better.

Maybe in the 2019 update we'll do better. Clearly their ranking of us as 14th for game atmosphere wasn't during Dollar Dog night...that should bump us to at least 11th.

These surveys mean squat. We have a much different team makeup, toughness, defensive intensity, talent level and coaching style this year compared to years past. Where we finish this year will be key. I am optimistic that we continue to improve and move up in the standings. I am very excited to see a team first not me first approach to playing.

I think that the program should embrace the fact that we have substandard facilities and turn it into a strength by coming up with an original and clever marketing concept. "Our facility might be a joke, but our team is not - as any visiting opponent quickly learns". Or something like that. There's gotta be a song floating around somewhere that could fit in with a hep theme of some sort.

Yeah i kinda agree — build it into our identity as this gritty north philly school. Need to start building a brand.

Maybe the mascot can grow orange hair and googly eyes like the other gritty mascot in town. At the very least Gola should include a rage room when it is re-done.

I don't understand the weighting for those ranking. SJU is absolutely not 3rd overall. There isn't THAT much of a gap.
Also, I highly doubt we are 14th in buy games. That doesn't make much sense given we have 3 games out of 13 non conference games that are never buy games with the Big 5. We are also in some tournament every year which definitely doesn't count towards that.
Goodman has been know to just be a lazy reporter so him retreading an article from last year isn't surprising. Last season, he trashed the A10 on twitter and got attacked for his idiocy.

I tried a few years ago through Kale to work with "The Attic" as our home court and to promote it as a tough place to play. He thought the concept might work the opposite way and sounded too negative (even though he still on occasion refers to it that way).

i think the attic is pretty badass honestly. Like that’s something you can brand around, you can make t shirts that reference it, you can make a big sign and hang it that says “welcome to the attic” or something. It’s really all about embracing what we have and being confident in it until we get something better which will be who knows when. Having the reputation of a team that embraces the gritty, city vibes is pretty cool imo.

Embracing shitty facilities might work for the existing base but I can’t imagine it’s an effective recruiting tool.

Right, I’m not saying it’ll turn us around, but i think you might be surprised. Philly as a city has embraced the underdog, blue collar mentality. No school in philly has that attitude of taking their lunch pale and hard hat to work everyday tho — and that attitude appeals to some, but not all, athletes. Might be kinda cool to be the “they aren’t perfect but they embrace what they’ve got” team. Also, in no way am i saying I’m right when it comes to this, i do think it’s interesting to brew some convo on this topic tho...we all have really good opinions and hopefully the school takes some ideas from all of us.
