Naheem Mcleod(Plymouth - Whitemarsh), whom LaSalle was heavily involved with, has left Florida State. The 7-4 big man failed to meet NCAA standards for enrollment. Very interesting.

Where's a Rick Singer when you can use one. FSU Must be really bad.

Here is the article , from Florida State
Center Naheem McLeod, who was expected to be a freshman member of the Florida State men’s basketball program this season, is no longer a member of the roster.
McLeod, who was at FSU in recent months, failed to meet NCAA requirements for enrollment.
He was not expected to be a major contributor as a freshman, but was viewed as a big man with a high-ceiling for future development. He was expected to be one of six new additions to the 2019-20 roster. It also added that he is now a recruitable athlete for other schools. Pit also added that he is now a recruitable athlete, open to other schools.

He was really high on La Salle. 100% we have to be involved in at least weighing the options of bringing him in. Any info on when he’d be eligible?

We have no scholarships. With Moore in the program I don’t see us getting involved again. He went in another direction and I expect Ash to go on another direction.

He went in another direction and I expect Ash to go on another direction. not sure but i believe the current rules are the same as when the info on this link was published: www.thekeyplay.com/content/2016/january/22/ot-qualifiers-partial-qualifiers-and-non-qualifiers-what-do-they-meanthe question then becomes is he a partial or non-qualifier. if he was a partial qualifier, he could have just stayed at florida state on scholarship unless the acc has a restriction on them. if he's a non-qualifier, he can't accept a basketball scholarship. the acc only allows 2 male non-qualifiers per year spread over all sports so chances are they used them up already on football players and he had to be cut loose. his only choices would be going to a juco for two years or enrolling at another four year school and paying his own way as a freshman. if this is the case, la salle not having a scholarship wouldn't be an issue. the issue would be if he can come up with enough need-based aid and grants so whatever tuition that would need to be paid out of pocket is minimal or zero. i'm pretty sure that tony washington was a non-qualifier and was able to get enough aid to come to la salle. this is all a long shot but it will be interesting to see how this one plays out. i'm sure a number of schools will be reaching out to him.

Thanks for the info. Ash and team should do their due diligence on this and I think they will. If we can steal McLeod out of an unfortunate circumstance he will come onto the roster as the best center in how long? Let alone the fact that we’d have him and stone going forward as big men.

I don’t know if he’d be the best but he’d be the tallest.

Will be interesting to see if Rhode Island jumps back in. They seemed to be convinced he was heading there before FSU became more heavily involved

You are absolutely correct on the Rhode Isand part- I actually expect him to wind up there.

You are absolutely correct on the Rhode Isand part- I actually expect him to wind up there. if he's a non-qualifier, i believe much of the need-based aid he would need in order to defray the tuition costs comes from state grants. if he goes to uri, he wouldn't be able to get state aid, plus he'd be subject to the higher out-of-state tuition. temple and la salle would both be better financial options.

If the aid stacked up for tuition, commuting to La Sale could be a good option. Could he practice as a partial qualifier? Could he be a partial qualifier and practice in the second semester? Probably too late to go JUCO and would eat up eligibility

If He’s a partial, Cahill & Co can be a huge help. Add in a creative tuition assist package and it’s a win win. Or he could go to URI and have a lower chance of qualifying

FSU Must be really bad. Not to mention, it tells you a lot about the standards at Plymouth-Whitemarsh, if he couldn't even meet the low academic requirements at an athletics factory like Florida State.

Give all this aid stuff / assistance to a deserving student, not just because someone is a bball player, who doesn't qualify......or is that heresy?
