VERY bad look for the university
There's no positive spin to this. None whatsoever. University leadership should be ashamed for letting something like this happen
Politics aside, this is a 100% hateful enterprise

Should they go on CNN? Or is it just Fox you are upset about?
If they went on CNN no one would watch.
Big deal, the cheer team went on TV where a La Salle grad works and got some publicity.
The left is just so tolerant.

I'm as liberal as they come. In my view Fox has really created a hateful, biased world for the sole reason that their owners will generate big $$$. Hannity, Carlson and Ingrham (sp?) are all despicable people. With that being said, I don't have an issue going on Fox to promote colors. As someone said, if they sported MAGA hats I'd have a real issue, but they didn't so although I hold my nose regarding Fox, this is okay in my book. Just my opinion.
Oh and '88 although Fox is the most popular news site, CNN does just fine (don't forget MSNBC either).

Unreal, La Salle students there to support a La Salle grad and College Colors. Not everything needs to be something to lose your mind about. We wonder why there's no room for discourse anymore it's just immediately "disgusting".

As long as the ladies in question volunteered to go and weren’t told they had to, then this is fine.

The funnier part of all this is that it was a promotion for the start of college football season.
Get some perspective people...they were there to support an alumna, Jilian Melee, who works for Fox News. Other Universities sent heir squads as well to support their journalists on the channel. Um...that's good advertising for La Salle as the college admissions cycle kicks off. Having an alum who has worked her way into the national media is a good thing for our Comms Department.
The alternative narrative is:
"Jillian...how come your University didn't send anyone to this today?"
"Oh...some guys on a basketball message board don't like Fox News, so my school decided not to send up the cheerleaders to make a statement."

I commented on the tweet, but will not weigh in here other than to say I hope this thread dies soon and that I thought it was a weird decision because of the controversial nature of the channel. Don't care that Jillian Mele is an alum.

Don't care that Jillian Mele is an alum. Joe...were you fine with the University holding a campaign rally for Hillary a couple of years ago? That was controversial (a rally for a pro-choice candidate under the banner of St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle) and pissed off a number of alums (and some of the Christian Brothers I spoke with). Or were you OK with that, just not this because it's not "your side" represented by the channel? Should the University refrain from ANY controversial decisions (like hiring a guy as an assistant basketball coach named in the payments scandals), or just the ones you disagree with personally?

Things for rent can be rented. That's all. Water is the essence of wetness. Come on, Zoolander...you know if the Trump campaign rented The Gola, you would have been up in arms. Would you support a Nazi rally in The Gola because "things for rent can be rented"? Your keyboard-based outrage at this is because you disagree with the politics of the channel...it has nothing to do with it being a "controversial" decision. It has blinded you to how positive this is for the University when you consider that the other schools there were Rutgers, Syracuse, Michigan, North Carolina...all large state schools...and we are there with them on a national stage. Take the tribal glasses off for just a moment and look at the positives of this, and the positives for an alumna doing well in her chosen profession.

Who ever runs this site should have not permitted this post. Nothing to do with LSU BB. One of the few, if not the only, place on the internet where LSU BB is actually discussed, albeit among 5 or 6 guys; and now it has been further marginalize by a pointless partisan bitchslap session. Who cares what your political flavor is. Return to BB or risk losing the few of us who occasionally check in for news tidbits about the team. can't get much anywhere else.

Very well said wistergym. This board should be a reprieve from bs politics. I don't give a crap what everyone's views are, that's why we vote on election day. why does it always seem like the liberals have the biggest mouths and immature attitudes?

Because people appearing in FoxNews is inherently political. I thought the “disgusting” from the OP was a little strong, and also supported moving it to the Other Board. But do I wish our school would tell have our logo and cheerleaders appearing on Fox News? No.

Since this is off the main board I feel better about this. I think Jillian Mele sold out to take the bigger job. I think Fox News is the single most dangerous entity in this country. Like Roger Ailes, I won’t feel bad when Rupert Murdoch dies. If I was running an athletic department, I wouldn’t put my urban university that has vast reach into the minority community on Fox News. But that’s me.

But do I wish our school would tell have our logo and cheerleaders appearing on Fox News? No. Why, because it does not fit your agenda or political views? There are a lot of people who watch Fox News and are La Salle grads or parent of La Salle grads. Sorry Neummann but that is a ridiculous take and La Salle would be stupid to follow your lead. Most of us saw it for it was. A nice little plug for the school on a network that gets a lot of viewers. La Salle needs all the help it can get and the left loses it shit like it always does. I hate CNN but if they went on CNN I wouldn't go bat crazy.

It seems the more people keep posting the worse it keeps getting. I didn't see any problem with this appearance. The cheerleaders better watch out, the video will probably be used against them when they run/apply for something. What are we becomming?

Your answers hinge on the beliefs that Fox News and CNN are even remotely equivalent, which I do not believe they are. I think Fox News is as carcinogenic to an entire generation of people- making them angry, bigoted, and afraid- as cigarette smoking is to the body. I dont imagine we’ll agree on that but that’s where my discomfort with it lies.

"Oh...some guys on a basketball message board don't like Fox News, so my school decided not to send up the cheerleaders to make a statement." Agree. what I think would be the absolute worst is if they asked Mele who she had supporting her, and she said something along the lines of "well La salle really isnt Division 1/ didn't have a football program/ or decided it couldn't be sending representation. but I root for power 5 XYZ so here is my Seminole/Panther/Wildcat..." Or even worse yet, "I am from Philly so here is my Temple Owl!" Anyone who is against this free national publicity should reconsider the bad taste that kind of "typical La Salle" result could have left. I don't prefer Fox News but I could swallow it. Those alternative scenarios would have been bad for business. I tried to embed the "disgusting" video to play in explorertown for convenience of all, but was denied by the Fox News content protectors. Those interested may jump to it here: video.foxnews.com/v/6079219830001/

I think Jillian Mele sold out to take the bigger job. If I was running an athletic department, I wouldn’t put my urban university that has vast reach into the minority community on Fox News. I'm sure Jillian worries what a mod on a message board thinks. Perhaps this attitude of shunning free national publicity because you don't like the messenger shows why you aren't running an athletic department.
