.....La Salle's Tom Gola runs unopposed for City Controller. I noticed this photograph on the front page of the May 21, 1969 Philadelphia Inquirer. I just thought it was interesting. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted

The man should have been elected mayor. Gola would have been a fine leader in City Hall and would not have brought international shame to Philadelphia.

View Attachment View Attachment He didn't have an opponent in the Republican Primary. In the general election he had an opponent whose name was either Berger or Peruto. TMac gave “the great Tom Gola” and the ‘54 NCAA champion Explorers a shoutout during Wednesday’s Phils/Cubs game, even pointing out their 26-4 record. It came up because Phils’ pitcher Cole Irvin’s grandfather Roy led USC’s Final Four team in scoring.

It came up because Phils’ pitcher Cole Irvin’s grandfather Roy led USC’s Final Four team in scoring. I saw that. The cynic in me thinks it's funny he mentioned it AFTER the commercial break. Wouldn't be surprised if he was told by the truck to mention La Salle. Just saying. Condolences to Cole Irvin and his family. Sounds like he and his grandfather had a tremendous relationship.

Should have set up shop there and used moon as our space station. It is amazing that we pulled that one off. We would have except the aliens living on the dark side told Mr. Armstrong to keep off their artificial space station. Armstrong negotiated 5 more visits in return for peaceful co-existence.

I should try to post a picture of the poster...
