Looks like St. John's and Chris Mullin have parted ways. Bobby Hurley possibly on deck.

That's bananas. I thought Mullin did a good job. Started 8-24 and was 21-13 this year. Lost in First Four to the guy that is going to replace him.
***
Can't wait until Hurley is hit with NCAA violations.

But the NCAA goes crazy with all kinds of rules to stop a student from going team to team...The kids who transfer to St.Johns are stuck in mud..now they have to hope they fit with the new Coach or transfer again...smh

Lavin was +8 in four seasons in conference. Mullin was -32.

Lavin should've never been fired.

His one assistant who did all the recruiting reunited with Hoiberg at Nebraska. Mullin also seemed to hand off coaching to his assistants. Well known that after the season Mullin goes back to San Fran. Comes back in September. Nothing but a figurehead.

Phil? Prob can get him for about 1.2 mill per. Hurley would require a $2 mill buyout, and St. John's is not a very attractive job. Phil may be the best coach out there right now, without a job.

If it ever happened, St. John's will become Saint John's of New York to me (not to be confused with the unaccredited Saint John's of Louisiana - distinction important).

St. John's isn't hiring Phil. You don't think he'd get fired upwards into a Big East program at age 64?

Looks like Mullin wanting to hire Steve Rice and some other administrative rifts led to this. Mike Rice, who Ashley Howard wanted to hire.

I wonder if Mullin screamed at the AD and threw a basketball at his face when he wasn't allowed to hire Rice.

Weird guy to fall on the sword for I thought La Salle should have hired him if that is what their new coach wanted.

Mullin seemed like a good guy but Hurley would be a better Coach at the Johnnies IMO. I think Hurley’s Dad could have done more the last 4 years compared to Mullin, who appeared to run more of a gateway to NBA program, not a “college program.” Will be interesting to see if they hire Hurley and get the blowback any way, from running a dirty talent pipeline. Will see how much of a choirboy he can be. It’s where he wants to be geographically.

Rice would have probably brought Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis with him to St John's.

Johnnies, after having a 50s buzz cut coach, are trying to be “progressive” by hiring a coach with a 70s porn stache.

Mark Schmidt would be a good hire. But they won't do it.

And the winner is Mike Anderson. They pulled a Good Friday miracle! I think this is super hire for St. John's.
