The Donofrio Classic is underway.
Christian Ray is playing for K Low Elite who play tonight. In a surprise La Salle recruit Brandon Stone played for Cool Hoops last night in their win and had 10 pts, and 11 rebounds. AJ Hoggard is on his team as well.
There are a ton of underclassmen La Salle is recruiting at the tournament if any wants to watch. If you haven't been there it is a great experience. Small gym and you are right on the floor with the players.
Ray plays again April 4th if his team wins which they should tonight. Stone plays again April 3rd.

Undersized gym. Nonregulation size court. Grade schoolers could look like all-stars at the Donofrio "Classic." (Yeah, "classic," whatever)

(Yeah, "classic," whatever) Care to share which grade schoolers have looked like all-stars in there? Here's some recent MVPs 2018 Sam Sessoms 2017 Fatts Russell 2016 Tony Carr 2015 Tony Carr 2014 Lamar Stevens 2013 JaQuan Newton 2012 Amile Jefferson and Rysheed Jordan 2011 Devin Coleman and Darrun Hilliard 2009 Khalif Wyatt and Dalton Pepper 2008 Maalik Wayns 2007 Lamar Patterson 2006 Keon Lawrence and Wayne Ellington 2005 Gerald Henderson and Ameer Ali The smaller court actually makes it more difficult to play. Toughness is prerequisite. Ray Carroll gave Kobe all he could handle in that gym The only grade school all-stars would be every other area school beating St. Matt's by 50 in there.

Well said Broderick. The tournament is gem and and has been historic.
Kobe Bryant, Rasheed Wallace, Lionel Simmons, Michael Brooks, Nate Blackwell, and Pooh Richardson, are just some of the names that have played in it.
The best was when the college coaches could attend. You would have 15-20 per night huddled in the corner all watch them games.

Best individual performance I saw was Joe Gower from the Poconos drop 76 points back in the early 90's. Kid was not recruited and signed with Mount St. Mary's about a week later just because of that game.
Best game I saw was Sonny Hill Seniors and Kobe Bryant with Malik Allen(Villanova), Jarrett Kearse(Temple), Victor Thomas (La Salle), Donnie Carr (La Salle) teach a cocky Delaware team that had Lenny Harris and Gary Lumpkin, (Both attended Xavier), Carlos Hawkins (JUCO) and Laron Cephus (Maryland who La Salle really wanted) a lesson about humility. The Delaware team was killing everyone in the tournament and gloating every game. Met the Sonny Hill Seniors in the title game and played well but still gotten taken to the woodshed by Kobe and Donnie. Awesome firepower on that Sonny Hill team.

The #1 HS player in the country has played there many times: Rasheed, Kobe, DaJuan, Eddie, Al Harrington. Probably Gene Banks before my time, as well
In my opinion, it's one of the best basketball experiences on the planet

Good luck having a future Hall of Famer trip over your feet at Cameron Indoor And, honestly, I can hardly think of anywhere I'd less like to be than surrounded by all of those dorks

Will do a little updating on Eastern HS since he lives close by. The last time I looked (very early this morning) the rosters and schedule were linked on his site (which is not going away) but the scores and highlights were not updated. Thanks Ted for your great service to the local HS sports fans.

For example, the 1957-58 St. Matthews CYO 8th grade varsity team won the Middle Atlantic States CYO Championship, i.e., they won all that you possibly could win back then. Moreover, the St. Matt's Gymnasium perennially finishes ahead of TGA in the ranking of best A - 10 basketball facilities.

Lol, this is strictly in regards to Region 21 punching bag, St. Matt's of Conshohocken. Though now I'm having a hard time remembering if it was St. Matt's or Saints Cosmas and Damian that used The Fel as their home court.

Left-handed hitting Chuck Klein hit 29 of his 32 home runs at the Baker Bowl during his MVP season of 1932 since the right field fence was only 281 feet away. It's the same thing with The Fellowship House of Conshohocken.

Brandon Stone had 11 pts, 7 boards, and 2 blocks in a loss last night so his team is eliminated. Christian Ray's team plays tonight.
