Just had this come through... So Olney Hall will now be named Hayman Hall. This will be confusing, although technically we were supposed to stop calling the TruuMark Financial Center "Hayman Hall" 2 years ago. Old habits die hard.
Dear La Salle Community,
Beginning in Fall 2019, Olney Hall will be officially renamed Hayman Hall in honor of one La Salle University's most notable benefactors, H. Blake Hayman, M.D., '41.
Following his time at La Salle, Dr. Hayman earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College, served in the Army Air Corps., and was a flight surgeon during World War II. He built one of the largest obstetrics and gynecology practices in the United States, delivering over 50,000 babies.
Dr. Hayman was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1966 and, eight years later, was named emeritus trustee. He was presented with the Humanitarian Award from the Bucks County Council AFL-CIO in 1968 and the Lower Bucks Hospital's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology created the annual H. Blake Hayman, M.D. Lecture Series in 1987.
A large contribution from Dr. Hayman allowed for the grand opening of an athletic center on La Salle's campus in 1972. While the plaque honoring Dr. Hayman still hangs prominently in the lobby, the building was renamed TruMark Financial Center in 2017.
The newly renamed Hayman Hall will remain a place of academic excellence in the heart of campus. Students and faculty will continue to come together to develop the social, political, professional skills that create the same positive impact that Dr. H. Blake Hayman embodied.
