7:45 to go.
Down 43-37. We're obviously in it, but it would require a much better article of basketball in the final 8 minutes than we've seen in the first 32.

Pookie and Shggy are just too inconsistent. When they are on it is great but 9 years of college basketball between them hasn’t given them consistency.

We had it to to 2, but everything's gone wrong since then.
3:28 to go. Down 49-41.

And Deas with the dribble dribble dribble three-pointer. c'mon it was a 2pt game and they had 2 bad turnovers that lead to this...

Can’t win shooting 30%. Everything else was actually even except FTAs, which were negated by the Billikens’ poor FT%.

All in all the defense was solid three point shooting was the difference. STL is a very physical team.

Some thoughts:
1) TV announcers were the worst I've ever heard. Just had stuff dead wrong (called miles a freshman) and were completely wrong about several calls (like Croswell's put back being in the cylinder and some offensive fouls)
2) Officiating was awful
3) We can't afford a night where our 2 highest scorers can't get in the offensive groove.
4) Croswell sat too long on the second half. I don't care that he had 3 fouls...get him back in there at the 11 minute mark and see if he can work through it. He's one of our hottest players right now...saving him did nothing but cause us to lose out on rebounds and a presence inside.
5) It is going to be fun watching Croswell and French battle for the next two years.
6) We have to get to the line more.

This game felt like a boxing bout. Especially the first half. The biggest difference between Ash and G, already, is La Salle is no longer gonna just roll over and give up.
We fought hard for 40 minutes. Our defense matched St Louis. Bad offensive night. Happens when playing a tough team on the road after a big, last second, win at home.
I was impressed with how we hung in for most the game with Pookie not doing much. Hes our best player and we need him to score. He didnt tonight. Loved that he didnt find it necessary to press offensively (taking bad shots and turning it over). He was looking for teammates. Just wish he fought harder to get open.

Back from the game. Good showing at the St. Louis pregame Alumni event.
We didn't deserve this game, let me preface all my thoughts by saying that. The way SLU shot free throws was beyond horrific but if we hit any shots we would have been right in it. My biggest complaint is a common complaint but my god those refs were awful. We didn't belong in the game the way we were getting owned inside, turning the ball over and shooting poorly but anytime we got close a terrible call would go against us. The fact the offensive foul only went our way with about a minute left was terrible. Talking with the SLU fans they were in agreement, it's a shame all the work that goes into these games and the refs might as well be doing a local PAL game
I could honestly feel Pookie and some other guys just trying to find their shot and it wasn't there. At halftime, I watched a few of them bricking 3 after 3 and it almost felt like these guys were just hoping that something would start falling. The nail in the coffin was that airball 3 by Pookie. From where we were sitting behind the basket, we had guys open down low all day and either didn't look their way or when we tried it was a turnover. I think had we connected on some of those passes we could have gotten some positive momentum going

This was the first La Salle game I've seen in awhile since I didn't bother to get ESPN+ (and from the problems ESPN has been having with it, it sounds like it was the right decision). I would say that this was a lousy game to watch, but I've watched other Atlantic 10 games this year and seen the same things; incompetence, playground basketball, and no discipline. It's not enjoyable to watch. (Fordham-Rhode Island..............Yuck! What was THAT I just saw?)
While I'm optimistic that Howard has the program as a whole improving, I was surprised/disappointed that he didn't put the brakes on bombing 3s. "We're not hitting our 3-point shots. What should we do?" "Shoot 3s." Speedy Morris did that crap in his last 2-3 years.......2-point shots count too, ya know. Then the game got to the point where they had no choice but to call upon what they were doing the worst.....shooting 3s.
It'd be nice to see them win up in Olean, NY on Wednesday night. The next time I'll get to tune in is the St. Joe's game.

Back from the game. Good showing at the St. Louis pregame Alumni event. Always comforting to know that Explorertown's prickly reputation is annually extended to St Louie each year. But seriously, glad you get to catch a game, even if they seem to perpetually have our number.

I think had we connected on some of those passes we could have gotten some positive momentum going Thank you for the report on the game. I was forced to listen and unable to watch. Looks like lack of offensive production doomed us in this 1. St L D likely had something to do with this but our main O guys as pointed out here by other posters do tend to be inconsistent. A lot of blanks shot last night by our main scorers (3-4 guys). Hope we keep making strides here. Last night was a step back. The ref situation can really be irksome. I am usually of a mind you have to beat the refs too so try to set it aside. But when it is disgraceful it may be worth it to strategically TRY to call it out. I am not sure what official avenues are available for complaint or how it is received. But I hope our coaches assess this and if it does not work against you are diligent with petitioning for a more level playing field. There are game tapes and stats to provide some evidence for what it is worth. I suppose fans can take note of the refs that are the worst and make a point of booing them at games. At the least this lets them know their bias is not going unnoticed.

Guys, I've always felt Miles Brookins plays smaller for a 6'10' player. I think it might be because he always seems to play bent over. In other words, he has to take a second or so to stand tall (so to speak). Anyone else have thoughts about this?
BTW, I love Croswell's rebounding, but I think the tip-in was in the cylinder and I wouldn't have been pissed if it was called offensive goal tending. There was one good video replay of it.
