Per Kenpom, Croswell is #1 nationally in OREB. He is rebounding 17.5% on La Salle misses when he is on the court. DREB is also elite at 22.3% on opponent misses.

Proud of ~50% of this board showing patience through a whole dozen games. A half dozen people fired the first new coach in 15 years after 10 games. An 0-10 start which includes embarrassing blowouts on national TV leads to a lot more buyers remorse than it does patience.

Croswell's offensive boards in the second half were huge in changing the momentum. His last couple of games have been huge. He should give us a great 4 years. Ed C's stats the last two games are are off the charts for a 1st year guy. Especially when you consider the minutes played....26 and 29. In Richmond, 3 assists, 1 block, 2 steals, only 2 TO's and only one foul in addition to the pts and rebounds. Most importantly, 2 victories. We saw potential in the games leading up to this, but the kid is getting comfortable out on the floor, realizes his role, and is producing. Moving forward...tough 5 game stretch coming up. Yes, including St. Joes. Hoping the momentum carries over to Tuesday night and we pull out a W against the Hawk, and maintain that confidence level going into GMU, Duquesne, St. Louis, and the Bonnies. 2-3 is a reasonable expectation. But it can very easily turn into an 0-5 stretch. Ash appears to be in his comfort zone from a line up and substitution standpoint. Season is starting to look very interesting. Need a big home crowd on Tuesday and a W to get the excitement back after a horrendous start to the season. Last time we came back from 9 down in the 2nd half, on the road in an A-10 game?

if we lose we choked this game away from the foul line. Getting to be too much of a habit Gotta hate the home town call with that obvious charge. . Out of 353 D1 teams, where do you think we rank in FT shooting?

Out of 353 D1 teams, where do you think we rank in FT shooting? We have been a very good free thrower shooting team all year. It has been a team strength. Like to see it be maintained when the game is on the line. Some slippage there recently. Perhaps we just have to get used to putting the other team away.

It's an exciting win, and it is exciting to be 4-4 in the league and have 3 in a row, but let's put this win in perspective though for a moment. Our wins came against the 3 worst teams in the league (we actually lost to the current 5th worst). Richmond starts all freshmen and sophomores. These are the games we SHOULD win (and granted we didn't win our SHOULD-WINS in the preseason, so this is improvement). These are just table stakes. When we steal one from the top 7, then we can get more excited.

Out of 353 D1 teams, where do you think we rank in FT shooting? Top 20 I believe 9th, last I checked. Your top 6 or 7 scorers all shoot free throws above 75%, Beatty over 90%, Powell around 84%. If you guys were even average at getting to the line, you'd be scoring two or three more points a night. Even more, if you were average at keeping teams off the line, you'd probably be a 9 or 10 win team.

" explorertown.proboards.com/post/96114/threadSo it’s almost like I’m being sarcastic about the half that needed wins to not freak out? There are a lot of fun theses to pick apart this season. Tops for me is that G couldn't recruit freshmen to come to La Salle! Close runner up is that in what is now a two bid league, we should be making the tournament once (or twice) every five years! And that is how you get to say losing to Penn (or @temple) was a bad loss!

I don’t get how you and other don’t understand that a La Salle team that finished 10th last year, graduated a near NBA level player and hired a 1st time head coach is viewed as a “should win” for every other school. Because we SHOULD still win against bottom of the barrel Patriot League teams like Lafayette and mid-range teams from weaker conferences like Drexel. We SHOULD still beat the bottom level A10 teams with 3 veteran players starting, even with a first year coach who is focusing more on defense than our prior coach ever did. The past two years we under-performed and lost the games we SHOULD win with a veteran coach and a near-NBA level player. That doesn't preclude us from still having games we SHOULD win in the mix. If we get more than 10 wins, show steady improvement, and win one in the A10 tournament, I'll feel like this year was a success. Anything else, and I'll feel like we let the SHOULD wins slip away.

Per Kenpom, Croswell is #1 nationally in OREB. He is rebounding 17.5% on La Salle misses when he is on the court. DREB is also elite at 22.3% on opponent misses. He was the lowest rated of our recruits coming in and I think has been a pleasant surprise with his hustle and his abilities. He was a steal for G and I'm glad he's an Explorer....just works his butt off in every game I've seen.

Whatever he lacks athletically, which isn’t much in my opinion, he sure makes up for in effort. I am looking forward to watching his development.

He’s very good at what he’s asked to do. Rebound. Be a detriment in the lane. Make your layups and dunks.
Without giving him the offensive burden, he’s been able to both shine and be productive. Thanks speedy.

I agree with the observations on Ed and would like to add that I think he plays around the rim with a high BBIQ. On offense, he slips well to a gap to get open. Rebounding is about positioning versus your man AND getting to the best spot where a miss is most likely to go. He does all those things very well.
He’s kind of like the football player who doesn’t grade out high at the combine but when you put on pads he’s outplaying the high grade combine players. I will take them every day of the week. Especially if they are from Philly.

Yeah, Croswell has been really good and keeps getting better. I posted a while back that the Brookins injury would be a blessing in disguise as it would give Croswell and Kimbrough more playing time.
