I'm a big defending of Calipari, but if he talked Green into returning then this situation really sucks.

If he's on the far left of the "sanctity of college athletics" scale and Boeheim and his talking shit on early entrees from his own program and "F them, this is my money" approach, I'll take Calipari 100x out of 100. I phrased it like I did because he's always come across as far more honest than most about player-coach symbiosis.

Burned a year of eligibility doing this... That's the real shame of it. It sounds from earlier reports that he was looking to leave this past summer but he was talked into staying. Does he lose a whole year or just a semester?

Does he lose a whole year or just a semester? Can't transfer in the middle of the year any longer. He would need to sit out year and a half like Carter did to get the full 2 years of eligibility.

Can't transfer in the middle of the year any longer. He would need to sit out year and a half like Carter did to get the full 2 years of eligibility. that is not correct. i explained this when the dylan painter situation came up. all a player has to do is serve an academic year in residence to be eligible at his new school. the ncaa considers that to be two semesters or three trimesters carrying a full time course load (at least 12 credit hours per semester). you can find this in the transfer regs on the ncaa website. traci sat a year and a half so he could play two full seasons. painter could do that too but he'd have to petition the ncaa to get the last year back since he already redshirted a year at villanova. once green played this season, that counts as a year, but if he transfers now, he could play next year starting on the first day after the fall 2019 semester ends. playing during that second semester would also count as a full year of eligibility. the point is moot anyway unless someone on the current roster decides to transfer out. we don't have any open scholarships.

Headed to Washington per Delgreco on the hawk board. that makes sense. he almost went to syracuse where current washington coach mike hopkins was his lead recruiter.

Unfortunately, Quade is an example of how one can seemingly have it made - only to blow it by listening to the wrong people. (College Coaches, recruiters, advisors, etc)

This is the Ty Garland scenario. In the grand scheme, you lose playing OOC schedule but you get to practice and play in conference schedule. While not ideal for team building it's not the end of the world.

He is applying for a waiver. I don’t see how that works going further away from home.

For him to enroll here in the spring, does it mean someone has to leave since we gave no scholarships available?

I'll handle this for Joe ... "If a kid like Green is interested, you'll find a way to make a scholarship available."

I have no info, but I would very strongly bet Howard let himself some margin with the roster and will continue to for atleast another full cycle.

My guess is whomever went from a starter to only playing less than 3mins in your last game is a good indicator on who it is

My guess is whomever went from a starter to only playing less than 3mins in your last game is a good indicator on who it is The guy is 4th on the team in minutes played and 2nd on the team in points scored and you have him making the major life decision to transfer and sit out a year based on one game in which his minutes were restricted. This is a ridiculous analysis.
