Barry University is the school Shaq got a graduate degree from after leaving the NBA? I think they are both D2 schools. Averaging 6.5 points as a junior seems mildly unimpressive. But I guess we gotta trust the coaches here who (believe it or not) know more than anyone here. I think Shaq received his Masters from U of P. Phoenix, that is. Not Penn.

I see Ryan Betley from Penn is in the Portal with a year left in eligibility due to a past year with injury. Does anyone in the know have input on whether there would be mutual interest?
Plusses for us - 36 and 39% 3 point shooting the last two years, proven scorer and high bball IQ; the floor spread with Clark, Spencer & Betley with AH at 1 and Moore at 5 would be interesting. This could give Ray and Sherif a chance to develop consistent O and improve in practice.
Negative for us - he will graduate with a Wharton degree so I am not sure there are many masters programs we could offer of interest. If he wants to play in Europe and isn't ready, we could be an option. If he wants another degree he'd probably go Michigan, Stanford, Cal, or like schools with a need or interest. Martelli knows him.

My guess is he goes to a P5 school. Probably a perennial tournament team since he didnt get to one at Penn ( I dont believe). He is local, I wonder if Jay would try to get him at Nova, but my guess is he would have little to no interest in a rebuilding La Salle team, and I don't blame him.

Believe the spelling is "Hysier" Saw him recently in PCL semis and finals. Kid is really solidly built (broad shoulders) and plays under control. Seemed to have a decent shot and good finishing. Nailed big FTs. I liked what I saw. Not sure if big upside or not, but seemed like a very solid basketball player. Seemed to be playing more like a 2 than a 1, but seemed comfortable with the ball, as well. wasn't put in too may positions where i could adequately assess his distributing capabilities. Del posted on the SJU (Pa) board that Nysier Miller '21 6-2 from Neumann Goretti will visit La Salle when recruiting reopens. Also mentioned visits to VCU, Penn and Temple. Del also sorry for your loss. Terrible. Thoughts and Prayers to you and your family.

I saw him also several times this season. Very tough defender. Not that he'll be required in college but he defended all five positions on the court. Mentally tough. If he finds his offensive gene next year he'll be "blowing up".

I'm wondering if the coronavirus outbreak will change the desire for local recruits to get out of town. Flying will remain risky for another 6 to 12 months, maybe longer, especially if the virus re-emerges in late fall. Kids and their parents may want to be closer to home (a car drive away), rather than being at a school that requires a flight both for returning for holidays or if the school closes due to a health scare. Its estimated that the vaccine may not get thru the normal 12 month approval process until 1st quarter 2021.
Thoughts?

My post above was prophetic. 4 hours later Brickus announces his commitment to LaSalle. Let me look into the crystal ball again.

La Salle mentioned as a favorite for "a throwback center," Tegra Izay, from Washington, D.C's Archbishop John Carroll. He is 6'10", 235 lbs. Class of 2020. Corey Evans: Late Available Prospects

Corey Evans: Late Available ProspectsI viewed some highlights of Tegra I found on the internet. The kid reminds me of another rim protector that G recruited, whose name escapes me right now. Committed to La Salle, but ended up going to the Bonnies instead. Geez. I can't for the life of me recall the kids name. Somebody help me out here.

Not sure where to put this, but Wichita State has now had 7 players transfer. Wonder what is going on there.

He may be a jackass, but the dude wins basketball games. Even with those transfers heading out, he'll probably get replacements that want to be part of a winning program. He's pretty much cut from the same mold of most College Coaches.

I wouldn't say he's cut from the same mold of most college coaches. I agree many are egotistical and intense. But Gregg Marshall getting arrested during a scrimmage... I don't think many have ever done anything like that. I also will say there's other jackass coaches. None quite like him.

None quite like him. i agree the guy is a toolbag, but he is a very good coach. he got into a public feud with tim legler just prior to the s16 game and really came off as an obnoxious jerk. he actually told legler he was a lousy player in hs (i think marshall coached at randolph macon in virginia and recruited the richmond area where legs grew up). i can't find anything about him ever getting arrested, although he chased down a couple refs and got ejected during a game while on an offseason trip his team took to canada.

I know he got ejected, (then suspended) during an exhibition game, but he wasn't arrested. Certainly uncalled for, but he didn't hit or assault anyone. To my knowledge anyhow. No different than Chaney, Calipari, Roy Williams, Bill Self, Bob Knight, Pitino, ...i can go on and on. there are coaches who are poised and have class, but most of them are snake oil salesmen that are put on a pedestal because they win.

Chaney was pretty aggressive, with his “I’m gonna kill you” bull rush on Calipari being at the top of the list. But I wouldn’t call him a snake oil salesman. The others in the list above sell varying degrees of BS imo

By and large, I think Chaney did things right. He took care of his players and ran a clean program. He was a smart coach and really knew how to coach defense although his offensive strategies were left wanting most times. The incident with St. Joe's was the big blemish on an otherwise spotless career. I'm okay with the Calipari incident. Calipari was and is sleazy in my opinion.
