While I think we should be allowed to express our opinions on the board, I think we should at least strive to be fair. How many of us have seen him play (I have and he's tough as nails). If his 3 point shooting has improved as much as reported on recruiting blogs, we will be congratulating ourselves. He brings intangibles that every team needs and I think he'll be a pleasant surprise. For you older fans, think Mike Gizzi.

It is funny I have found in the my playing and coaching career, you give me players like this to play with and coach with.. It is infectious.
Give me 5 "Christian Ray"s on the court and I will go to battle anyday....

Classic line from Speedy back in the day.

I think its great that others have posted opinions and facts different than mine on this recruit. When we post well intentioned opinions along with facts, it educates the other members of the board and increases our knowledge of the LaSalle program. But when we insult others just because they have a difference of opinion or we just don't like the facts they present, as diehardexplorer has done to me in his post above, it diminishes the quality of the board and the credibility of the person making the insult. "La Salle program"

The guy doesn’t sound like a sexy pick-up and that’s totally fine. Tough, gritty players don’t often come across as sexy. Whether he becomes depth or foundation player, he brings an identity and the team sorely need one...plus he knows how to win from everything that’s reported and that shouldn’t be underestimated.

Welcome to La Salle Christian. I hope you have a long , successful and rwarding career. I can't wait to see you play this season on the HS trails.
Love "toughness". My favorite all-time player is Larry Cannon just because of his toughness and attitude. Love it Love it. Not saying that Christian is Larry Cannon but if he has half that toughness and attitude we will love him.
PS wait til people see Tracy Carter and the toughness he brings. Beatty when he is eligible is another. I am keeping fingers crossed for McLeod because he brings toughness AND intimidation.

From his pics, it looks like Christian has red hair. When was the Explos had a redhead?

Sure it's not a basketball powerhouse, but FWIW Bowling Green offered this kid 2 years ago. They are a credible mid major, and I think that says something. We didn't just offer some kid no one knew. Just a later bloomer and the toughness part is a game changer for me as well. Sweet 16 team was good because Ramon set the tone with his defense. Beatty, Ray, Phiri, Brookins... That sounds like quite a defensive squad. And I like that.

Out of that Rivals article:
However, forward Christian Ray has to be the heart and soul of the team.
I love watching Ray play. He's tough, he's selfless and he continually makes winning plays on both ends of the court. I just got done watching him fight five-star Isaiah Todd on both ends of the floor and while Todd is the highly regarded guy, Ray just went at him like any other dude. Every program needs a player of his type.
Two points - I'll trust Howard, and Ray sounds like the exact player all of us have been begging for. I'm in until proven otherwise.

Averaged 20pts for the Haverford School who won't the Inter-Ac for the first time in a while According to the one article. See good teams and players, Craig Conlin built a nice program at Episcopal and GA is normally very tough.

If he's working with the Sixers' strength guy and he works as hard as people say, he should be pretty ripped by this time next year. With that attitude and Ash behind him, by junior year he could develop into an A10 hybrid of two of Ash's former players - Divencenzo and Arcidiacano. I'd like to see that.

A10 hybrid of two of Ash's former players - Divencenzo and Arcidiacano. Don't think he's going to be a point guard like Arch was. In watching some film that isn't his game. I think he could be Dontè lite though.

Absolutely love it. Kind of reminds me of PJ. Some people didn’t love the kid but man did he put it out there. He was a glue guy that did a lot of things others would not. Maybe someone like Christian will be a huge need in Ash’s team and philosophy. I like it

Interesting point on the Scholly. CR had major interest from some of the top universities so his academics likely are very strong. I’d be surprised if we have any/many Haverford School alums who graduated from La Salle and adding one with strong academics is supportable. Still would be something to button up for compliance purposes.

But if this is so as stated could it help with freeing up an additional athletic scholarship?

Not every player needs to be a #1 scoring option type player. You need glue guys. Blue color hustle guys. I feel like some of our recent teams have lacked toughness. Hopefully Ray can add some of that.

Those guys from Avatar looked pretty damn tall and they were certainly athletic enough. Now if you're talking about Smurfs...fuhgeddaboudit!
