We knew it was coming. I guess question is whether or not thats it.
South Plains College is a college located in Levelland, Texas. It operates satellite branches in Plainview, at the Reese Technology Center, formerly Reese Air Force Base, in western Lubbock and the Lubbock Center near central Lubbock.

Feel really bad for the kid that a year of his eligibility was essentially wasted last year. He played 22 minutes total last year.

He played 22 minutes total last year. It was really stupid and bizarre.

Eh, too early to call it terrible. He'll always have "played at a mid-major level" on his resume.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on Verbal Commits, but I don't see anything about Joseph transferring to South Plains. I see a Jonah Antonio from Mount Saint Mary's transferring there.

The other shoe has finally dropped. His time was a weird, short story.

My two memories of him:
1) he was always laughing on the bench and pulling the hoodie over his head to not be seen laughing when G was yelling or ranting at another player.
2) He came in during garbage time against Dayton and chucked a 3, hit it, then came down and chucked another 3 (missing it) instead of passing it off to one of the other 2 open walk-ons. He got his shot....should have passed it to let one of the walk-ons make the box score in garbage time. Didn't strike me as a team-player there.

I like when fans explain the rules to the actual players.

One of which is Rodeo. I'm betting that draws higher attendance than their basketball team.

Maybe Howard actually loved his game but was so upset by that incident he couldn't move forward. I guess we'll never know.

The slam against Fordham in garbage time wasn't a good look either.... When you get your opportunity, I guess you want to make the most of it, especially as a Freshman. But just a bad look.

La Salle MBB head coach Ashley Howard -- June 14, 2018 :
" We're trying to change the culture here and bring back the proud tradition of a storied program ".
" Some guys are buying into that right away, and in all honesty, a couple of guys are determining if La Salle is still the right place for them ".
" I don't want to lose any players, but I also want guys who are fully committed and invested in La Salle basketball and what we are trying to accomplish ".

We can bury Joseph, or just wish the kid well. I always thought it was odd that an athletic 6'7 guard was glued to the bench as a freshman on a 13 win team. When I would see the hoodie up, I knew there was something going on there. However, it sucks to be a scholarship player, and burn a year of eligibility while playing walk on minutes. It would've been much easier to stomach if we were a 23 win team trying to grind every win possible out for an NCAA bid. However, to get minimal game looks at freshman while on a 13 win team is borderline negligence.
So I can't fault the kid for 3's or dunks in garbage time... He was a scholarship walk on to me.
Maybe Joseph couldn't play at this level, a TT Carey, Parish Grant, Jermaine Davis, Karl Harris, Yevgen, Dusan, type player.
It isn't those players faults that they were offered and accepted a scholarship to play basketball at a high mid major in the A10. Either they couldn't play at this level, or they weren't given an opportunity. We can question why the coaching staff recruited these players, or what they saw as far as upside, but I think it is a bad look to fire shots as they are walking out of the door.

SMH on the G logic behind personnel and use. IMO, I'd rather have had Osun come in over Joseph. G seemed enamored with getting Fla. talent but that never really panned out for us (and I have said this multiple times over the years).
Osun had clear game changing upside and would have developed more than Joseph who always was a question mark in my mind. Having Osun play on campus also would have enabled a fish or cut bait decision between Osun, Brookins and Sullivan. Only two of those were needed in any case. Staggering that by parking Osun made no sense, especially since he was qualified and why would you put an important asset in someone else's hands to develop for what - Joseph? Some may say this is 20-20 hindsight, but I never liked the grad school stash idea. I also think G may have overplayed Phiri in part to keep that prep school pipeline (including Osun) intact. Both decisions backfired for us. Just venting. Time to move on.

I looked up South Plains College basketball arena. They have seats behind the basket. I'm sure that played into Joseph's decision to transfer.

Dajour recently committed to New Mexico State University and is currently on their roster. Good for him. NMSU is the WAC conference favorite this year. Not sure if he'll see alot of playing time, but hopefully he'll make the best of his opportunity. Weird path to take to get to a pretty solid D1 program.
