G is thinking to himself "Did he just do that? Did he just make a lazy joke and then compound the issue by spelling it out?"

If a few players leave, our wins next year will be single digits with G as coach.

What would be more Lasallian than looking past someone’s previous transgressions and giving them the opportunity to get back on their feet.
Plus that “L” tattoo on his shoulder from 2013 won’t be completely useless.

A big plus for us - there are tons of great Italian restaurants for Rick to enjoy

You left out the rest of the quote "...and pay me $2 million a year, build me a dorm just for my players, give me a $500K slush fund (wink, wink) and just turn a blind eye to everything I do."

The UMBC Retreivers are going to the dance an a last-second dagger from former VCU player Jarius Lyles. This was their first win over the Catamounts in a decade (!) and it came at UVM's crazy gym. UMBC's coach is Ryan Odom, whose dad is Dave Odom who coached Tim Duncan at Wake.
He's going to get a bunch of offers. They're a really scrappy team with some imaginative recruiting. Lyles bounced around a bit after VCU for some reason before blowing up at UMBC. They have a 5'6" kid from Puerto Rico who is fantastic, too.

Lyles bounced around a bit after VCU for some reason before blowing up at UMBC. With the game tied and the shot clock off, Odom passed on a timeout, let Lyles play it out, and he drilled a 3 from the top of the key with 0.5 seconds left. Intesting post-game interview with Lyles: he said even without the timeout the coach called a play "but I waved it off" because I have confidence in myself... You could see the quick "wave off" on the reply. Might be why "Lyles bounced around a bit after VCU for some reason"...

Odom was already a hot name at UNC Charlotte. In regards to Lyles, that's the balance a coach needs to find with their guys. It's not always a bad thing when a guy waives a coach off - you have to trust your players. They see things on the floor in real time that you don't. Lyles can certainly be a handful at times, but he's matured a lot. Odom completely changed things in his first year at UMBC (which was last year) as they were a dumpster fire. This for them is the fruition.

Odom should look to move up after the season, win a game in NCAAs and he’s definitely getting plucked.

I'm out on Dave Bliss, Larry Brown, Rick Pitino, Mike Rice, and maybe Sean Miller assuming he's on those wiretaps... Anybody else, I would consider.

Most teams we are recruiting against are coached by old white dudes. For La Salle to stand apart in that area we need a young up and coming coach that can better relate to the players we are recruiting. Basic human psychology.

Generalizing about coaching competence based on race or age is discriminatory. You can do better than this olneyave.

I don't think that is what he was saying (but I'll let him speak for himself). I think what he's getting at, which is similar to what me and one or two other people were talking about a few days ago with a female coach, is that hiring someone other than a white male, or even just a younger guy, *could* be a bit of a leg up in certain aspects (recruiting, PR, etc) that we don't have normally. Not that at it should be a sole determining factor, but it's definitely a thought.

Kevin Ollie out at Uconn. Would be taking a huge paycut...
but could go the Derek Kellogg route, come here to prove he can coach. I would take a flyer on him.
Not likely gonna happen, but i was surprised to hear he was fired "just cause" and thought, hey we need a coach - why not him!

i guess this thread is therapeutic for many of you, and i get that, but the reality is it's just wasted keystrokes.

Listen, I don’t know if you work for the school or what...but you have two posts of the same thing. So either bring something to the table or, as has been said before around here, ‘kick rocks’.
