I watched Nova dominate the Zags last night. They also pasted Joes at Hagan and made 19 3s in that game.
Personnel matchups on D will be a real test.
Do you go small and try to cut down on the 3s (like Joes did not do) or go bigger so as to match up size wise?
If I were coaching, I'd go small, sub a fair amount to keep guys fresh and hope for the best. I'd actually go
Stukes/Johnny - Brunson/Gillespie Powell - Booth
Deas/Saul-Bridges BJ -Spellman/Dante D Tony/Brookins - Paschall/Cosby
BJ and Pookie by necessity will play most of the game, but we need to sub them out strategically around tv timeouts and make sure we have Deas in to score when either of them is out. If Johnny and Miles can give us a solid 15 minutes each and can give our starters enough rest to stay fresh we can stay relatively close. That is all I am looking for - no miracles, but a good learning experience on how to play an elite team.

Nova is so fundamentally sound. They play great team D and share the ball. Hopefully G and the team learn from playing them.

Maybe we catch them in a let down situation.

Maybe we catch them in a let down situation. The only time they play in a let down situation is in the Round of 32.

I happened to speak with Matt Brady after last years Nova game and he stated the strategy for defending Nova was not to collapse on drive penetration, and not allow the ball handler kick out to the wing for the open three. The only problem with that was Brunson went for close to 30 against us last year. I believe we will see something very similar Sunday, give up the two instead of the three. I am not saying this is the correct strategy, I am just saying this might be the strategy we use on Sunday. If we get hot from three, maybe, just maybe we keep it close and all of our prayers are answered with a W.

I think we all know how this is going to go. La Salle will play Villanova far closer than they have any right to on paper because Villanova won't be going 100%. John Giannini will consider this a moral victory, we'll all assume it's a sign of progress, and then enjoy the high until we close out the calendar year with an inexplicable loss to a bad St. Louis team at home.
Go Explorers.

I suggest the opposite. Almost felt like a several year old joke that didn't have the same zing to it. Glad you guys enjoyed relishing in their past.

After this week we’ll be just a St. Joe’s sweep away from sweeping the city six and claiming the outright big five title...............

Followed that game online, saw the buzzer beater get posted, drove onto the garden state parkway and got into a multi-car accident. That was a stupid day.

La Salle ought to put the ball in the freezer - that's their best chance against Villanova. Slowing the game down will frustrate Villanova's high-octane players who want to run and push the ball down the court. Trying to keep up with them straight-up will be suicide.

Were you around 2 years ago? Stall ball caught a ranked Dayton team off guard, beat them, and then the next 10 opponents we're ready for stall ball, built a lead, and we were unable to compete, let alone come back. We tried it against The U, and it didn't work. I guess if the goal is to lose by 15 instead of 30, stall ball could accomplish something, but I think virtually everybody on this board is over moral victories.

It didn't work against Miami in large part because we shot 0-15 from three. Nothing wrong with shortening the game but you have to be efficient in scoring for it to work.

The only chance we have against an NCAA #1 seed is taking a ton of 3s and shooting some insane percentage. There's no other path.

I think you need both. If we were to actually win this game, it would be a "best night of the season shooting for us, worst night shooting for them" kind of thing.
