It was great seeing the WSOC team win big. That used to be the XC team, frequently, but they have just fallen off.
Men - 5th at A10s, 17th at Regionals Women - 8th at A10s, 16th at Regionals
This has become the new norm and it is frustrating as an ex-athlete to see a team that routinely won/competed at both of these levels now struggle to be relevant. I was frustrated about the hire when it was made and have been throughout. I worry that the work done to build a dynasty has been erased.

Do the math on La Salle's 2016-2017 results across all sports... It's not pretty. A majority ended with results in bottom two positions of the conference, I believe.

My problem is that La Salle XC was a dominant regional powerhouse just underneath Georgetown and Villanova. Now they're struggling to beat Monmouth.

The men did have the most Outstanding Rookie, so maybe that's the start of a turnaround?

Shows you the importance of coaching - I know we've talked about Torpey before. Without funding and fighting the other endless challenges including a bad record, leadership and hard work can flip the script - Torp did that at a very special level. Without that, the flaws and challenges are now glarring.

Without that, the flaws and challenges are now glarring. Despite having a board and a list of candidates they hired the most convenient guy. Seems like a nice guy in the emails I get from him but Dan Ireland was able to continue winning. He was a good hire. The men’s team has fallen off a cliff.

It's about commitment. Gotta say to play, that's why I cited the other teams in 2016. It's even less of an excuse as to why programs like XC and MBB didn't sustain - they accomplished the hard part without the true support. Then again, how do you sustain if 'average' is your benchmark?
