Historic nominations for Mary and Frances Wister House ( 2101 Clarkson St. ) and " Little Wakefield " ( St. Mutiens Hall & Gazebo -- 1701 Lindley Ave., formerly / alternatively 1825 Lindley Ave.) on La Salle University Campus planphilly.com/2016/10/25/committee-supports-6-historic-nominations-from-lancaster-ave-to-la-salle-s-campus-6-requests-for-continuances Mary and Frances Wister House ( 2101 Clarkson St. ) : www.phila.gov/historical/Documents/2101%20W%20Clarkson%20FINAL.pdf " Little Wakefield " ( St. Mutiens Hall & Gazebo -- 1701 Lindley Ave., formerly / alternatively 1825 Lindley Ave. ) www.phila.gov/historical/Documents/Little%20Wakefield%20FINAL.pdf Curiously, it appears that the Owner, La Salle University, was not / is not the requesting or nominating party / entity for either of these recent ( 9/6/2016 and 7/14/16 ) filings. In view of the fact that historic designation, if approved, can potentially significantly limit or adversely impact the Owners rights to develop, alter, improve or otherwise utilize the buildings themselves, as well as the certain designated surrounding property areas, as the Owner sees fit, one wonders whether the University supports or opposes these ( adverse ? ) historic designation nominations being made , apparently, by third-party civic historic preservation groups ?

Great find gymrat67! Good reading about the history of these two buildings.
On a related note: I've always felt the school doesn't fully maximize the connection between the University's campus and Charles Willson Peale. Any Founding Father's face that pops into your head - that image was painted by Peale!
