Is LaSalle not interested or is Iorio not interested in LaSalle? Anyone know for sure? He appears to have a skill set that would strengthen the program.

Like Sherif Kenney's versatility and athleticism, he could be a great fit for Explorers at PG & SF. Hope we land Sherif since La Salle could provide a missing, thus far, stable environment.

It also gives you two completely different PG looks, a chance to create favorable mismatches against opponents and something we have needed at PG for a long time - depth.

Leader Johnson tweeted the other day that Bones Hyland is down to Georgetown and La Salle. The Georgetown board is talking about it, but I haven’t seen anything about it from anyone else. There were some reports that some P5 schools ( such as Michigan), were after him but wanted him to do a prep school year. Johnson covers Nova pretty closely and seems to like Ash from his days there.

Saw Bones a couple of times this year. He needs to add like 20 lbs. He is as quick as a cat...but once again have seen him play against DE HS competition.

It is odd Hyland hasn't signed somewhere by now. I think other factors are at work with his recruitment.

I'd be very surprised if he ended up at La Salle.

I had a friend in Chicago in April for the UA event..
To say he was dominant was an understatement. Plus speed, plus passing.. He is the one that you want to have the ball and let create..
Jumper is there and if you let him sit open in a corner.. He is making the jumper.. That is the part of game that I have been told is under appreciated because he is the one that generates the opportunities for his teams. If others take on that responsible this spot up jumper will play up.
To be frank I am surprised that we are involved but I am not. If I am a recruit who is late in signing period, I am probably looking for the most PT I can get. La Salle can offer that vs Georgetown. Just look at the rosters, La Salle has more projectable time. Ashley’s speciality is guard play development, while Patrick’s is low post play. So maybe I am not surprised by our involvement now. It makes sense for both parties.

So how would Hikim and Hyland fit in the same backcourt? Both PG's and both freshmen. I don't see it. Sounds like a good get but why would they both want to be here when they have to share minutes for 4 years?

Must say haven’t seen either play in person. Hyland is about 5 inches taller than Hikim and could cover two guards. Remember when we had Duren as our primary point guard and also had Galloway who would frequently bring the ball up and set up the offense? That seemed to work okay for the two years they played together. If they were both 5’10 I think we’d have a much harder time having the two on the court together. I will be surprised though if we do wind up with Hyland.

It would put immense pressure on any team’s backcourt..

And we have the winner... Hyland is the playing 2 and often, very often... He could easily play the 1 and if he wanted to play pro it would probably be at the 1.. Guess where Ashley’s expertise is? Hyland’s shot plays up big time if he is playing off the ball.. I would still be surprised but the more I think about it.. It makes sense..

If Hyland wants to play pro and his position in the pros would be at the 1 guard, then it would be reasonable to expect that he'd want to hone his game as a FT 1 guard not a back up 1. You just can't be at a pro 1 guard level when you only played back up minutes at the 1. Am I seeing far enough ahead?

I'll go out on a limb and say Sam was told from the start that he would primarily be a 2 guard. Is Hyland going to want that especially if he knows as Explorerman said that his only route to the NBA would be as a PG?

Hyland is committing next week. I would bet VCU. I don't trust Leader Johnson's take that it is Georgetown or La Salle.
