I hope the Palestra is sold out for Nova. There is no better setting in sports. However, from what I understand LaSalle does (or did) not intend to share the tickets via a split house thinking they could sell it out on their own. That doesn't look to be happening especially given the horrendous start to the season. Also, we need to face the fact that playing LaSalle means nothing to the Nova fan base. We have not been a true rival to Nova since the Lionel/Speedy days. I sat through the embarrassment at the Pavilion last year quietly seething at how the Nova fans laughed at our team. Even with a full roster this year, I expect us to get drilled again by Nova. The Palestra means little to the Nova Nation at this point. They care about bringing 19-20k to Wells Fargo for Big East games.
Tickets are $50 now, whereas they had been on sale for a short time pre-sale at only $35. When I picked up mine, I was offered corners, half court, or behind the baskets, all upper level. This wouldn't necessarily mean that the bottom level is already completely sold, however it stands to reason that any available lower level tickets would not have been part of the discount program.
It's our home game, but unfortunately we know our capacity for selling tickets in recent years is about 3k to 5k for big five games, not 8k. Considering it's a weeknight a few days before exams too, I'm hoping we get at least a viable student section there.
