Headed to OT. Kristin Haugstad for the Explorers tied it up with just 4 minutes remaining in regulation. The Explorers were relentless on offense, apparently outshooting Dayton, 22-14.

La Salle went toe to toe with a Dayton side that was stronger than their record would indicate. Both teams came into the match at 3-7-2 overall and just one win in the A10 through four matches. Dayton looked disciplined early but a bit more fatigued in the end and La Salle capitalized in the 86th with the Haugstad goal. It was an important result for two teams on the A10 tournament bubble, and it was a great effort from Haugstad and the offense to finally break down Dayton's defense.
Yes, a win would have been very nice, but it was out of reach as the Explorers struggling offense failed to register more than one goal for the sixth straight match. It was a tie on the road against a good program. Dayton needed the points as much or even more, being winless now in their last two, dropping all the way to tenth place in a very competitve conference table. La Salle remains in a three way tie for 7th with four five matches remaining, and only eight teams will advance to the postseason. The La Salle / VCU match on Sunday could break up that 7th place tie.
La Salle's head to head record vs. Dayton in the series going back to 2011 is now 4-1-2. For the seven matches that includes four wins, one loss, two ties, and the previous tie resulted in a shootout advance that clinched an NCAA berth for La Salle while ending Dayton's 2013 season.
