Yes, a while back we acquired the Armory and about 2 or so acres of land I believe. You are pretty spot on though. Can't just use google maps due to the way the landscape is. It is far from a flat surface. I am not really a fan of building it next to Hayman due to it not being off an easy access roadway. Why build an arena if you can't showcase it as well. Wister already congested and narrow as well. I am not sure if there is even enough room there either. Hard to say. However, I am happy with any location even though I prefer the Olney Penn ave or the Armory location. There probably really isn't a difference in what easy for students. Plenty of students live in north dorms, off campus area(Uber,20th,Lambert, etc) and all the apartments in addition to the two new apartment complexes built off wister. Compared to the students on south campus I bet there isn't much of a difference.
One thing to keep in mind is the parking shift. All the faculty that worked in college hall now shifts to the hospital area where parking isn't an issue whatsoever. Honestly, don't think parking is as big of an issue.
I will say I hope President Hanycz is looking at this thread.

Did you know back a few years ago...they were going to turn the church where the business school is into a bar. The owner of Finnegans or McFaddens I believe was close to doing it but due to structual issues it never happened.
This would have been a bar for students only. Many schools that are in not so great area check for student ids.

In a perfect world, assuming money is no object, there is many things that should be done to improve the layout of the campus.
Main Campus
1. Knock down McShain Hall, Union Building, Administration Building, and Olney Hall, along with security booths at 20th street. 2. Build new, large L shaped union building in place of current Union and Olney Hall, should include state of the art dining, offices, theater, athletic offices, student lounges, with sit-down restaurant. Exterior should include brick pattern matching those of College and Wister Halls. 3. Pave driveway on main campus, re-do landscaping around former McShain Hall, plant more trees in front of Union and Wister Halls. 4. Build new three-story administration building in place of former one, include new security and facilities headquarters, with small underground garage for security and maintenance vehicles. Exterior should also include bricks matching other buildings.
Now that main campus looks completely new and redesigned, more students will chose to attend La Salle, athletes will choose to play here, will further benefit athletic programs.
Lower Main Campus
1. Open 20th Street for traffic heading both directions. 2. Get rid of McCarthy Stadium and Hank DeVincent Field, along with existing stands and mail room, etc. 3. Turn former Hank DeVincent Field and any extra land near Olney Hall into a large parking lot with a surplus of spots. 4. Build 5,000 seat arena on former McCarthy stadium field, including state of the art scoreboards, floor, chair back seas, locker rooms, chair back seats, with expanded dining options. All color schemes should be blue and gold. Should look like modern-day Palestra with brick pattern matching the surrounding buildings. Widen driveway to allow for more traffic off of 20th Street. 5. Knock down Neumann Hall, create parking, grassy area in its place with lots of landscaping. 6. Create grand entrance near armory property, with landscaping, improve security presence around main campus.
The athletic programs will prove to be a legitimate threat, La Salle will join the Big East conference, be a consistent winning team.
Moving West
1. Renovate Tennis Courts, fix up Connelly Library. 2. Keep Peale Estate, redesign parking lots outside Gola to allow for more space. 3. Keep the Gola but paint upper part of exterior navy blue with a large explorer logo facing 20th Street. Will serve as practice facilities for basketball teams, serve as main facility for volleyball. 4. Keep all residence halls at 20th and Olney, renovate them so they look newer. 5. Build new track/soccer field with new stands near the softball field, build baseball field adjacent to softball field. 6. Build new academic building at Chew and driveway to Germantown Hospital, adjacent to new business school, with large sign saying La Salle on it. 7. Knock down current security headquarters at Shops at La Salle, build sit-down restaurant/pub for students to go to.
Finally
1. Build a high-rise multi-purpose academic/residence hall at Elkins and Wister, destroy current parking lot considering that the Shops at La Salle, and extra parking on main campus will be sufficient.
Although none of these options are very viable at the moment, within the next 50 years, La Salle could potentially follow through with some of them, basically re-designing the entire campus layout.

You can't hold a sign out saying no locals allowed that be terrible but what schools like Hoftstra, College of Charleston and Catholic have done is market the bars for students. So students are at the front of the line, get huge price advantages (2 dollars as opposed to 5 dollars a drink) and no cover with a college ID. Basically make it very unappealing and inconvienent for locals.

It's borderline illegal and a majority of your money will be outside of college kids. At 21, you're talking about juniors...and most are born after Xmas so 1/2 a year. Roughly 33% of student body at any given point are of drinking age. You run a bar. If locals come, they come, but security is high and if they step out of line they're bounced and not welcome back. With La Salle's help, it can be a college bar pretty quickly and...I think at least.... Can be pretty successful.

Here is a pretty descent 30,000 foot map of how the campus is configured. www.lasalle.edu/campusmap/map.htmlYou can definitely see why our alums want to buy up some of the remaining area houses. You can also see the potential for a new arena if E&F are demolished and the remaining houses on Elkins Ave are acquired and demolished (the street could then be closed with approval from the city) and next to the Blue and Gold Dining Commons (makes the campus safer and cleaner looking). Explorers Den and the Point could also be demolished and moved or made better at the Shoppes at La Salle. These are the items we can request our new President to look at first in a 4 year plan.

Make it like the show "Under The Dome." Under The Dome is the worst. And I know that because I watch every episode. For some reason I keep torturing myself with it. Kind of like what I do with watching the Phillies.

Kind of like what I do with watching the Phillies. Nothing is as torturous as watching the Phillies. I'm not even sure they've hit rock bottom yet. As long as they allow that chucklehead Amaro to run the team, they will be a dumpster fire. It will take years to clean up the mess he's created.

The next rock bottom will be the inevitable 12+ month Hamels injury.

Ramon looks good. He's getting into the lane and moving the ball really well. He's on the court with McDermott and Bobby Portis who are on the Bulls roster. That's a good sign. He's guarding/being guarded by Tyus Jones from Duke. You wouldn't know one guy is a pedigreed pick from Duke and another is someone who has bounced around Europe. Playing each other very evenly.
At the very least, this is good exposure for him to get in a good European league and make good money. I think his team last season was the second division in Italy. He led the team in scoring.
I think he could definitely be a NBDL guy. But those dudes make no money and usually have to hope for a ten-day contract, and then a second ten-day, and then an actual deal.
