(And that was a serious "what the hell?" Like are all NYC kids going prep in other states so they don't show up under the Scout.com NY search? That track record seems almost impossible.) Agreed. And good research.

And maybe it is more difficult to become outstanding in NYC area because everyone can dribble-drive by the time they are 8 years old and some can dunk by 13. It still is a solid recruiting base.

I don't know whether hiring Jeff Neubauer is a good hire or not for Fordham. I wish Jeff lots of luck and hope he does well there (of course except when he plays La Salle). Jeff is a great guy. Learned a lot from Speedy and John Beilein. I have a couple of thoughts. First, his style is shoot a ton of 3's. Press the hell out of the opponent. I asked Jeff one time about his teams being beaten on the boards so much. He laughed and said "we hope to steal it before they can shoot it." It will be interesting to see how recruiting goes from a state university in Eastern Kentucky to a private Catholic University in the Bronx NY. Jeff had great success with Juco transfers which I doubt he'll get on Rose Hill. Still I would not underestimate him for this job.

The key for him is how he recruits. If he can't get players to come to Fordham he's sunk. He already has one hand tied behind his back with the facilities. He better be a G type of recruiter otherwise, fuhgeddaboudit.

You have to remember that if Fordham was located in any other place besides New York they'd be out of the A10. The A10 needs the NY market and recruiting base. G needs to start getting some guys from the Big Apple. Name the best good player out of New York. Have a couple of candidates. Russ Smith .. Archbishop Malloy JayVaugh Pinkston .. Bishop Laughlin

When I did my little check, I was only using highly regarded prospects who have panned out. Russ was a 2 star. I didn't use JayVaughn because, as a New Yorker, I wanted to concede with dignity.

If Tom Pecora could recruit to Fordham I believe Jeff can. Jeff while utilizes JUCO players has tapped the transfer pipeline as well. Fordham has a pretty decent freshmen class. If he can get Paschall to stay that be HUGE for him. Sengfelder was another decent A10 freshmen.
Pecora got A10 level players but his style of play or better yet lack of it was a complete mess.
Jeff is a smart guy. He knows the A10 is a guards league. Look at some of the best teams this league spits out each year. It more often than not has strong three point shooting.
This is the best hire for Fordham in decades and the A10 success plays a big part in this hire.

I believe Paschall was granted his release. He was supposed to visit Villanova today.
