Not playing UVA and Nova on their courts might make a difference. We did handle VCU on their court a couple years ago - hope JW, DJP, and SZ remember they can do it!

It's not hard to see four consecutive losses to Virginia, Rutgers/Vanderbilt, Villanova and Temple. 4-0 versus the cupcakes, 0-4 versus the real schools.

Only Virginia and Nova we should be big underdogs. We can play with the rest and should beat a bad Rutgers if it comes to that.

Just because you recognize the name of a school doesn't make it any more "real".

No one thought we could go 2-0 against Butler and VCU a couple years ago...strange things have happened.
I'll say it again, I have a feeling about this UVA game.

Against UVA and Nova we need players that fill will the stat line.

I'm going in with this with proper expectations. This was a #1 seed last year and a candidate for that lofty spot again this year. They're really well coached. We don't have much of a chance. That's not a slight against us -- it's the difference between an A-10 team with a lot of new and young parts against a pretty loaded ACC team with a lot of experience. We have a puncher's chance. But this is a major step up in talent. We have a few guys on our roster who would get major minutes on UVA (Jerrell, Price, Steve) but they're a more talented, well-coached team who are a grind to play against. I really hope we don't have a firestorm on here if we lose. I can see the borderline "FIRE G!" and the near certain "we run no offense by G's good for the university" posts happening already. We're playing a Top 10 team. There's still no way to tell what type of team we'll end up with this year, but it's not Top 10. The one thing we have going for us is defense. GW held them to 59 points. Of course, GW only put up 42. UVA struggled on offense last year and lost their best offensive player in Joe Harris and their best post defender to graduation Looking forward to the game tonight. I grew up around NYC and have a lot of respect for Philadelphia basketball and Lasalle's tradition. UVA did struggle on offense in November and December last year, but quickly hit high gear once January started -- so much so, that even with the slow start, Virginia had the 21st most efficient offense according to Kenpom. If you were to only include January to March our offensive efficiency would have been in or very close to the top 10. Casual fans who don't track more advanced stats sometimes miss that because our point totals are relatively low. But they are low because (1) Our defense gives up so few good looks that other teams end up taking 30+ seconds to take a shot AND (2) Our focus is on controlling our defensive boards so we have more guys hitting the glass and fewer seeking transition buckets AND (3) We tend to run a patient offense. Efficient but patient. We did lose Joe Harris (who has been getting some minutes with the Cleveland Cavaliers) but it's hard to say he was our best offensive player since we had lots of good offensive options but no dominant one. Malcolm Brogdon was probably our best overall player. We did lose our best defender in Akil Mitchell, though his excellence was not simply his post play but his ability to defend anywhere in the court and make the quick switches required in our pack line defense. A little preview of our team: Point guard London Perrantes always plays under control and has just 3 turnovers this season. He also has an excellent 3-point shot though he has not asserted himself much offensively yet this year. Brogdon is a 6'5" guard who is very smart on and off the court with a versatile game that makes use of his strengths: He can shoot the 3 or mid-range jumpers, loves to drive to the hoop and draw fouls and is a nearly 90% free throw shooter. Also a good defender. Justin Anderson in a 6'6" athlete who can jump out of the gym and hit the open 3 (15 for 22 this year). He is a shutdown defender who can play inside and out and often gets a critical block. Anthony Gill is our most consistent inside scorer who uses quickness and moves to create shots and has the strength to continue through contact. Mike Tobey is our near-7-footer with a sometimes excellent touch. His play has been a bit inconsistent, but when he is on, he can be a force. Darion Atkins didn't contribute much last year but physically is our most athletic big man and most alike that way to Mitchell. Playing more and better this year and has contributed at both ends. Freshman Marial Shayok is a shut down defender on the perimeter who has gotten a good chunk of minutes, along with fellow freshman Isiah Wilkins, who has flashed some talents and smarts. Evan Nolte has the potential to be a 3-point specialist and a stretch 4 but hasn't really been much of a force offensively. Our bench can go another two deeper with perimeter players but playing time has been scarce. Overall, our offense is marked by unselfish team play with a mix of shooting, slashing and posting, while our defense can be daunting - when it's on, we don't give up any open looks, including from the 3-point line. Good luck to Lasalle this year!

No shot we beat Villanova or Virginia. That doesn't make these games irrelevant. This is a chance for the team to get ready for the A10 schedule. I have a bad feeling that we lost by 20-25 in both of the games. I hope Im wrong but we shall see.
