La Salle got their 7th straight win last night, keeping a perfect regular season intact and locking up the A10 title.
The 1 seed is clinched, so La Salle meets the 8 seed on Thursday at 11am. Winner advances to play 4/5 on Friday at 5pm.
Haycook is just one goal away from tying single season program record.

Awesome, congrats.
Not to be a wise-ass, but do eight teams really need to make playoffs? used to be top 4

Awesome, congrats. Not to be a wise-ass, but do eight teams really need to make playoffs? used to be top 4 Great question... I really liked the six qualifiers and two byes format that was in from about 2004 to 2011. La Salle did rather well as a six seed in 2010. There have been no wins by 7 or 8 seeds since the field expanded two seasons ago (0-4). The closest one came was #8 VCU losing to #1 Dayton 5-4 last year. The game was at VCU. The one bye did a disservice however to La Salle in 2011. We came in flat and lost to Umass. Also, the expanding to 8 teams was intended to make the round robin scheduling fairer and in so doing eliminated a regular season game (from 9 to 8). It has worked well on both the men's and the women's side to balance the schedule to four home and four away.(IMO) In A10 history there have been three #3 seeds to win it all, and one fourth place team did (with 3-1 regular season). On the men's side in a six team format, three teams tied for sixth with a .500 record in 2010, which I think put more pressure on for expansion. Twice in men's soccer the six seed won it all. These teams are all good enough to win on a neutral site, especially if defense is their forte. I think of you're a 7th-8th place team like Richmond or Umass you deserve to advance because usually you're only about one win (or in some cases blown call) away from being a top 4 team. You make the playoffs and then you build off that experience with your returning players. Again, this was the formula that made La Salle into a champion in 2012-2013 after being on the front doorstep in 2010-2011.

Put me down for the six team format.
Great piece of analysis Hykos.
I see the WSOC RPI is #23. They have consistently been in that #20-25 range the last four weeks that I have checked. Normally I would think they would get an at-large bid even if they lost they A10 Championship but I doubt it.
Collegemadness.com has La Salle as a #13 seed playing #4 DePaul. Winner gets the winner of Samford and Kentucky.
I worry about scoring. Haycook is awesome but I would like to see another scorer step up.
Good luck this weekend to the team and coaching staff.

With two more wins La Salle's at large picture would stay pretty solid. I wouldn't read too much into the DePaul scenario. They never can get the matchups right, possibly because the committee seems to care more about travel than seeding according to strength.

WSOC wins 3-0 against UMASS in First Round of A10's. Very workman-like match on a cold and raw day. Good job ladies and good luck in next round.

I'm a closet-fan of the women's soccer team. Absolutely LOVE coach Royal...he's like the Doc G of Women's soccer.

She is one of my favorites to watch. In the second half, they peppered the box and Kagan put one in the goal. A short time later, little used Fia Jonsson scored for La Salle. I thought coming into this season that Jonsson was going to be a big contributor. She was two time all league player while at Coastal Carolina. I don't know what happened this year? Glimpse towards the future. FR Madison Bower might be in the running to fill Haycook's spot. Bower is a big presence upfront and a prolific HS goal scorer.

La Salle trailed GW 1-0 at half (I think GW had only 2 shots on goal in the half). Haycook gets the equalizer early in second half. Regulation ends tied 1-1. La Salle's FR Kristin Haugstad with the golden goal to send Explorer's to Sunday's Championship game.

Haycook goal changed the rhythm in our favor. It was rather dicey before that. Haycook also set up the game winner for Kagan and Haugstad.
A banner day for La Salle soccer as the men's team beat DAYTON as well to move into 7th place with one to play, pushing Dayton down to 9th and out of the field!
