Hearing that Bruce pearl has added harris Adler to his coaching staff. Can anyone confirm?
Also I am pretty pleased if this news is true.

Man, I have no idea how to react to one of our assistants being coveted by a dude as slimy as Bruce Pearl.

Hearing that Bruce pearl has added harris Adler to his coaching staff. Can anyone confirm? Also I am pretty pleased if this news is true. Why? Was never really impressed with him. Didn't think he brought much to the table and I'm happy to see when the times comes for G hire someone new to help give him some new additional insight. He did get along with the players really well but I think he could have done more, not sure how much of a recruiting role he truly played.

I fully expect Sean Neal to be promoted to assistant coach and Matt Bloom to get the Director of B-Ball Ops job. Both are very deserving. G will be looking for a new video coordinator.

I've read before about Harris's importance in the recruiting arena so I'm inclined to believe it. Based on the fact that he holds a degree in pharmacy and is a licensed pharmacist he has an analytic mind and that could well be applied to talent evaluation. I wouldn't envision him as the recruiting closer but as a bird dog and talent screener. Just my take not at all sure.

I believe they gave coached together in Maccabi Games Pearl used Gola Arena as the training site and Harris Adler was his assistant. If true, great for Harris. Good luck.

So what "significant" role did he play specifically do you know?Just because I didn't really seem to like the guy shouldn't be a problem. I can bet I'm not the only one who really didn't care for him.

I would certainly like to see Sean get a coaching opportunity but I also think it may be better if G brings in an assistant with prior head coaching experience. None of the current staff has been a head coach and I think it might be useful to have that background on our bench.

I've heard the head coach say on multiple occasions (Explorer Club functions, open practices, pre and postseason banquets) that Adler played a significant part in the recruiting. I think there's a lot of truth to what big5vet posted. Not sure of this, but I heard he played a big role in landing Jerrell. Genius.

Yelp… If we are throwing opinion out there… This is best for both parties, Alder did not bring much to the table. Per recruiting, anyone can play a role in recruiting but he was not nearly as effective as someone like Ashley Howard… Someone recruits can actually relate to i.e. an actual Division 1 Basketball player with ties to Philly… Ultimately recruits come for the head coach, not for the assistants.. Yes you have relationships with them and they are usually the first people you talk to but if you don't like the head coach and can't form a relationship you aren't going to that school, simple as that... My hope Giannini uses that money (and extra money that he got for the assistants last year) and is able to bring someone with legitimate basketball experience who can strategize and assist with game time decisions. This is the arena of coaching that significantly hurts us… The coaching staff can use an upgrade..

I really don't have an opinion on Adler because I really don't know the ins and outs of his job responsibilities. What I posted were comments that came right out of the mouth of his boss so I tend to accept them as valid since the guy has worked for him for 10 years. And I think you're going to be disappointed when G fills out his staff. I'd be willing to bet the house that Will, Sean and Matt get promoted and he hires a new video coordinator.

Yeah, the Swiss are overrated. After all..."Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

If Jordan Goodman ends up at Auburn, it may put to rest once and for all the question as to Harris Adler's ability to recruit.

Can't see us springing for the money to bring in an assistant with prior head coaching experience. Our "style", like it or not, is to promote from within.

G will catch hell for not bringing in an experienced assistant if the team fails to make the post-season next year. He definitely needs a bench coach who knows how to make in-game adjustments... something G struggles with. I hope the team doesn't play without purpose like it did this season or this could be the beginning of the end for G. I certainly hope that Price, Roberts and Stukes have built-up a good chemistry with the team this past year. The sting of not making the post-season cannot linger.
